wlepse
A few here have wrapped the grill or plasti dipped them, or your other option is to buy the primed version direct from Ford.
cmillz1331
I have looked into the primed version from Ford but I think I can do it myself or with a friend that will turn out almost as good and save me a lot of money....my brother runs a body shop in arizona and he says wrapping them tends to look bad over a long period of time (I do think ppl on here have done a great job tho) and I like plasti-dip just hate that it has to be redone constantly....I'd like to do a DIY project for the grille and rims, just need to know how and what to use

cmillz1331
exactly....I just hate chrome unless its the good stuff and chrome clad isn't the good stuff....hard to find a good, inexpensive solution...
Keith Corry
nope, but I have a 2011 chrome grille in very good condition that I'm trying to get rid of. Anyone want to buy it for $50? keithcorry@gmail.com for photos.
jackdaniel
any idea how much ford charges to paint the primed version of the grille? Ā You can check the price for a 'primed' replacement, The local body shop charged me $150.00 to paint and swap.
cmillz1331
okay thanks. so with the primed purchase it was like $400?
shantz
I painted my chrome grille. it's actually a pretty basic, standard procedure. it was scuffed with a scotch brite pad, then cleaned and prepped with a specific product designed for painting plastics. two years so far, no issues. Ā see my pics in my profile.

I want to do the fog light bezels but don't want to go through the hassle of taking them off.

JamesbialeK
I want to PlastiDip the chrome trim above my headlights and the top piece of the grill (2013), but can't remove the chrome piece. I remove the two hex screws on top of the headlight but there's one more hidden under the painted bodywork. I read somewhere else that you need to remove the bumper?! Any ideas please... lraia
My 2011 LTD is a lease and I didn't care for all the chrome on the grill, so I bought the top two grill pieces (primed) at 139.00 + the eblem holder (chrome) for 31.00, had my local dealership paint them for 150.00. Wrapped the upper chrome piece with 3M 1080 G212 Scotchprint Gloss Black Metallic Vinyl Wrap (20.00). Attached are the results.
