Advice on shining up the grill on my Edge

Hi guys,

 

I could use some advice on the best way to keep the shine of the grill on my 2012 Edge. It looks like the grill is a chromed plastic of some sort. What is the safest way to shine it up? Can you treat it like any other body panel, such as using a paint sealant and wax, or would your recommend another method? I read some horror stories about people using metal polishes on chromed plastic.

No metal polish on chromed plastic, use regular wax, or synthetic, if dirt is embedded, try using a wax with a mild cleaner in it. Meguires has a wax with a cleaner, works pretty good.

I wish I would have put that Clear-Bra stuff on my 2011 chrome grill when I got it. After 20,000 miles, mine is showing lots of little chips.

Odd that you have chips at 20,000 miles. My '06 explorer was 6 years old when I sold it, and no chips what so ever. I did keep the truck,especially the fron end, well waxed, maybe that helped.

I also have a lot of chips in mine. They look difficult to replace. Probably need to pull the entire nose off. I think the entire front-end especially the hood are prone to chips.

Duragloss 501 (Marine polish) will be great, and safe, on your grille. It's available OTC.

I just use Nu Finish on mine.
