johnb62
Hello, Brand new member here. I have a 2008 Ford Edge. Over the last couple of weeks the power liftgate has taken to falling down. What happens is the gate lifts fine, then after a few seconds it drops a couple of inches then powers down. I suspect that the lift "shocks" are weak and need to be replaced. Any help here would be appreciated. My wife does not like getting hit in the head by this thing. When momma aint happy... Many thanks!! EDST777
after all what exit to change rods or they can be repaired. Now I have a frost (-21 C) and the back door of a luggage carrier doesn't hold at all when temperature to become higher (-10 with above), then the door starts working. What your thoughts on repair? thanks.
EDST777
In addition. Even if the rod is broken why the door isn't fixed in the top situation and falls down? it keeps only a rod, there is no blocking? thanks for any help! EDST777
friends, unless the rod never broke? )
akirby
The rod is called a strut and it holds the door open and makes it easier to open. You need a new one. See the ford dealer or you can just measure it and find a replacement of the same size at any auto parts store or online.
