Inner door panel removal?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, in my adventure to fix a stuck "Door Ajar" light, I need to replace the latch in the door of my 2011 Edge, it's out of warranty due to the amount I drive.

Does anybody have any tips on getting this black inner door panel off?

This is a picture I found on the net

I got the outter panel off without a problem but couldn't get this inner panel free. I removed all the bolts around the perimeter but it definitely felt like something was still holding on from the back.

Any tips are appreciated :shades:

Seriously?

I mean, the bottom half was free as a bird, but up along the top it felt like something was holding it back, very well could be glue as it wasn't budging.

There are 2 rubber plugs that you can remove, I thought for sure there would be a bolt or 2 back there but I couldn't see any even with a flash light. The main point that it felt connected was the top right corner.

Does anyone have access to a shop manual?

Thanks so much!

I'm having the same problem on the rear door panel. When the dealer replaced the front switch the door window was taken out. I'm guessing that the window motor is connected to the window mechanism and that is what is holding the panel in place. It's getting dark out so I'll try to get the panel off tomorrow. The first thing I'll try is to remove the white plastic window motor thing in the middle of the picture above. I'll post if I learn anything helpful.
