Very satisfied with my new Edge Limited

I'm satisfied with my new 2012 Edge Limited. It's quiet, rides nice, and being a techie, I love the MFT and the configurable dash displays. The MFT was very easy to learn, although it did take some time to customize the look, radio stations and set up my Sync website. Showing friends the weather radar totally blew them away. Navigation works great and I especially like being able to put the basic navigation info on the dash screen. I put in a Husky cargo liner in back and removed the front license plate frame. I've got the deep red paint that looks like it's liquid, very nice. The fit and finish is tight and Ford used quality materials throughout.

 

Only a few minor quibbles. I wish the leather seats had more side support, bigger bolsters. After having cloth seats for years, the leather seats feel as though I might slide out. And I wish the front passenger seat folded flat like in the SEL models.

 

Overall, this is the nicest vehicle I've ever owned out of about a dozen.

I have no clue what you are talking about with a flat folding front seat in the SEL models. Mine doesn't do that in my Edge. It took me awhile to decide if I wanted a limited or an SEL. I just didn't like the chrome on the doors and the large chrome piece on the rear hatch. Made the Edge look ugly, to much chrome. I have the 20" chrome. And the plastic wood on the limited was tacky. Those are the only difference in my SEL and a limited besides memory seats and the power tailgate. No need for the memory seats as I'm the only driver.

I didn't care for the LTD for the reasons you mentioned, especially the faux wood trim. Therefore I chose to buy an upgraded SEL instead. I have the leather seat option and my passenger seat absolutely does fold flat.

My passenger side font seat folds flat in my SEL. Came with leather/ambient lighting package.

I have leather and the ambient, not sure why the ambient would matter in a folding seat, but mine doesn't fold flat. Never bought the Edge looking for that option either. Just curious as to why so many have this option in their SEL's and I do not.

I test drove a 2012 SEL with the fold flat passenger seat and it's still offered on the 2013s. The option seems to show up randomly, some SELs have it, some don't, and it's standard on the Sport. Limiteds don't have it because the passenger seat is an 8 way power seat. Wish I could trade the passenger seat. Once in a while, I haul some 2x4s for remodeling and it'd be nice to put them inside, instead of tying them to the roof rack. Rolled over 1300 miles so far and I'm enjoying the car, very quiet, smooth, no problems. Really like the MFT, easy to use and logical. Replaced the license plate lighting with LEDs, gives it an upscale look. Now I'm looking for LED lighting for the cabin lights.
