Activate Sync Owner account?

Recommended Posts

I am a new owner of a 2010 Edge Limited AWD. It has the Sync with voice navigation. It works really good, I even have a subscription to Sirius radio left over from the previous owner. I have signed up with the Ford Owner site. It tells me on the Ford Owner site that I need to activate my Sync features. I am happy how things are working now, so I'm wondering if I should activate Sync. Will I have to start paying for a subscription, and will I lose my Sirius subscription. I know they say you can get a vehicle history report and traffic and weather reports, but will there be a charge? Do you need to have a data plan on your cell phone?

It costs you nothing to set up a Sync Account. You seem to be confussed. Sirius and Sync are two different

things. One has nothing to do with the other. In the previous years Sync Services was a free service for the

owners of a new vehicle for 3 years. Now its only free on some moders for 3 years. You can find out all about

it at Syncmyride.com or at Support.ford.com . You can also call this toll free number for free help about

Sync1-800-392-3673. I hope this helps you. We set up a Sync account for every customer that buys a car

from us.

Thank you for the reply ladybird4. I guess what I don't understand is, since I bought a used 2010 Edge, am I still under the free service for 3 years? Everything works, voice navigation, bluetooth phone, jukebox. What happens when the 3 year period ends, does it all quit working? What is the advantage to start a Sync account? Will I have to start paying for a subscription. What is the subscription for, is it the navigation or updates? I'm just happy how it's working now and I don't want it to stop or have to start paying for it.

Thanks for the downloads ladybird4, there is some good information there. But I'm still not sure about starting a Sync account. Will I have to start paying for what I already have and what happens if I don't sign up for an account, will something stop working? I would like to register, just to see if there are some updates, but I don't want to start paying for a subscription if everything is working right now.

I'm not sure what you are saying is working and what you are afraid of losing. Setting up a sync account will not change anything.

If you can push the voice button and say services and it dials into services and you can get directions, weather and traffic etc

then you already have an account. The only thing that a sync owner account will do is allow you to get updates, get the vehicle health report and use services. If you are still confused the sync 800 number can tell you if an account is set up. An account is set up using your e-mail address and phone number. once it is set up it is then associated with the phone number and not the car.
