goatee
My opinion is that if I want FWD then I can get a car. AWD/4WD is for SUV/Crossovers. Otherwise why put up with the mileage, size and added cost for maintenance? I would't even consider FWD crossover or suv due to the heavy & often unpredictable snowfalls of late
Cypress
My opinion is that if I want FWD then I can get a car. AWD/4WD is for SUV/Crossovers. Otherwise why put up with the mileage, size and added cost for maintenance? I would't even consider FWD crossover or suv due to the heavy & often unpredictable snowfalls of late Ā I wanted AWD, but opted for FWD on my '09 for two reasons. 1. AWD = lower gas mileage & 2. In Houston we really do not see any snow. The traction of AWD cannot be denied, but I have not had any control/traction problems to date with my Edge. Funny fact my dealer couldn't even locate an AWD within the Houston city limits. The closest AWD Edge was in Dallas!
hydro
FWD, It's lighter, quicker and..... I'm in So. Cal. 1/2" of rain is a crappy weather day.
KMAN
FWD here . I almost order AWD but I was thinking more to go wrong and a little less mpg with FWD. Wife CUV anyway if it was my ride AWD all the way !
fishmonger
AWD My wife never gets stuck in the snow any more.
igcitng
I bought AWD. I am not a fan of frontwheel drive and in the winter when it snows staying home is not an option. There is another thread on here where someone with FWD said it is really bad in the snow.

chazmink
We got a 2008 Edge Limited with FWD. Better mileage was the primary reason.
