Otherwise why put up with the mileage, size and added cost for maintenance? I would't even consider FWD crossover or suv due to the heavy & often unpredictable snowfalls of late I wanted AWD, but opted for FWD on my '09 for two reasons. 1. AWD = lower gas mileage & 2. In Houston we really do not see any snow. The traction of AWD cannot be denied, but I have not had any control/traction problems to date with my Edge.
