lk2183
Sorry if already posted but I haven't found a definitive answer to my question yet. I am into buying either a 2011 or 2012 Edge and like many people, really love the look of the Sport. While I love the look, I'm not crazy about the MPG, so I was considering buying a SEL with extra options or a Limited, I know a number of people have had some success with having the plastic cladding painted, but if I were to want have the actual body kit added on to one of these models, what are my options? I've seen that there is a 3D carbon kit for the 07-10 model but I can't find anything specific for 2011 and up. Can the actual body kit from an Edge be ordered and installed directly from Ford? Is there an aftermarket piece that is the same or comparable that can be bought at a lower cost? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really love the look of a white, metallic tri-coat Edge Sport and want to do whatever I can to make that look work on one of the other models so I get the best of both worlds. Thanks. shantz
Yes, you can order the factory Sport body kit, but expect to pay big $$$ for it - it doesn't come pre-painted, and it will require installation. There's a thread on here with the OE part #'s and retail pricing for the lower Sport cladding. FWIW - have a look in my photos ~ I've got an '11 Limited, and had the grille, and the lower claddings all painted to match - at a substantially lower cost than the Sport kit.

I haven't come cross that thread, but I'll keep searching. Did you have to do anything special to get your cladding to hold the paint? I've asked the dealerships about that process but they are all clueless. The one body shop I've talked to didn't exactly instill confidence either. I was/am close to giving in and just going for the FWD Sport rather than dropping all the extra into the extras to look like one but want to exhaust all my options before going all in one way or the other.
