guillaume69
Morning everyone! Posting because our 2011 Edge Limited has been suffering some malfunctions with Bluetooth and phone recognition for the past couple weeks. After upgrading to the new MFT software version, my wife and I were really happy, as both our smartphones were detected and worked in perfect harmony with the system: phone, address book, call history, music, etc. After that, things started to degrade slowly, with sometimes taking more than five minutes to find a phone, having one showing in the phone section, and the other in the audio (music) section, when showing at all. And now, we can't have our phones picked up by the system anymore AT ALL. Bluetooth connection fails systematically. I have tried to unpair and re-pair each phone a fair amount of times, but nothing will do! I am now considering resetting the entire MFT software, (the 60 minutes engine running procedure all over again...), to reflash it on the car, but before I try that, I wanted to know if anyone had experienced that problem, with ideas or solutions? Thanks in advance for your help! G Edited July 28, 2012 by guillaume69
autom8r
G I had a similar issue with my system last week. The new OTA OS upgrade (android, ice cream sandwich) on my phone now notifies me that the sync system is attempting to access my phone, whereas it did not before. The phone requires me to permit this access. I unpaired the bluetooth devices on the sync and started over, making sure to pay attention to the display on the phone and answer the prompts during the pairing process. Keep in mind that the sync pairing window is open for only a few minutes so the prompts must be entered within that time frame. Everything works fine now. wlepse
First I would try deleting the pairings on both the MFT and phones, reboot the phones then try again. If you still have trouble you can try a fuse pull or master reset. As for the MFT asking for access to the phone...I just got this recently too. By any chance is your phone a Samsung? I just picked up a test phone and found that after the update the MFT was asking for access to the phone for the text messaging feature. Just wondering if this is something Samsung is starting to push out.

guillaume69
Thanks for your comments and recommendations, guys. Our phones are IPhones, and we actually haven't had that MFT request to connect thing yet... I'll keep you updated with trying a few tricks on the car. Cheers! wlepse
I don't think the iPhone will support text messaging until the next iOS
candurin
If you read the sync my ride forum iOS 6 beta users have confirmed that sync can utilize text message features from an iPhone with ios 6. Can't wait!
wlepse
I have it "working" but am not that thrilled with it. Could just be my system but when it reads the message it doesn't mute the audio source of even lower teh volume like it does for nav directions. I'll have to play with it some more but it isn't something I want to mess with while driving. Maybe the next time the wife is doing some shopping I can sit in the car and play.
