Torontoguy
What's up everybody I've got a 2011 Limited and just recently the Door Ajar warning will not turn off despite closing the door with good force or opening and closing multiple times. It would appear the Door Ajar switch is stuck in the "door open" position. Does anybody have any info on where to find or access this switch? Dealer wants $500 for the repair! Unfortunately I'm out of warranty as I do quite a bit of driving for work. I've done some quick reading about this issue and found that the switch is part of the latch mechanism? Can anyone confirm this? Thanks so much! Ps. Here's the Edge enjoying some Summer fun.
JOEHIO
Sweet picture, did you try spraying the latch with WD-40? Maybe it's just sticking.
phlatlander
Sorry Torontoguy, I think you're out of luck. The problem is likely a switch with faulty circuitry. We had the same problem and the dealer replaced the part. I didn't even get out of the parking lot and the "new" part didn't work. They replace it again and apparently the mechanic said, "well the first one fit sort of funny." Took a couple of hours to replace too!

arnesr
I had the door ajar issue as well with my 2011 Edge. They told me they replaced the latch. I had to take it back as when they put it together the lock was jamming. Working now. Seeing this post, it seems to be a common problem, perhaps they need a recall to fix the issues. MickeyCondon
and they wanted $110 diagnostic fee to even look at my door because I don't have an extended warranty on my 2011 w/50,000 on it....
PrinzII
I am getting the Driver Door Ajar warning lately. I am thinking that I may have to take mine in for that as well.
chiefc2
My 2011 limited just started doing the same thing. I need to slam the door to get the warning light to go out. Does anyone know if there is a TSB on it or what the problem really is ?
Edge_Beast
My 2011 limited just started doing the same thing. I need to slam the door to get the warning light to go out. Does anyone know if there is a TSB on it or what the problem really is ? No TSB that I am aware of. The problem lies within the door latch. It needs to be replaced. Had mine replaced not too long ago. Problem solved
snaik69
Same prob here. Also, when door is successfully closed it sometimes becomes "ajar" on its own, causing my alarm to go off! Very annoying. Off to the stealership!
chiefc2
I went to the dealer and had the door latch replaced. It cost me $247.00 because it was out of warantee but the problem was solved.

Anyone else have any thoughts. I talked to my local service guy and he seemed like a good dude. He told me to call Ford directly and report this. The guy at Ford said that if I did get this fixed to save the receipt in case it does become a recall/TSP issue. If you guys could call 1-800-392-3673 then 1, 4, 4 (if my memory serves me correctly) and it will be put into their system. Takes less than 5 minutes. Hopefully in the future it will be taken care of. Thanks guys!
hunter14
I had the same problem, it starting coming on intermittently and then constantly. My car is out of warranty and I didn't want to pay for a new latch so I took the door apart to try and find the problem. I found that the resistance through the switch when I closed the latch was varying between 3-10 ohms and the door ajar light would only go off when it went below 3 ohms. So something in the switch is creating poor contact. I liberally sprayed an electronic part cleaner on the switch and the problem is resolved at least for the last few weeks. Not a single problem yet. If you want to try this I found out you don't have to take the whole door apart. If you remove the Top Inboard Screw that holds the latch mechanism on you can use a 3-4" straw to spray inside the latch and clean up the switch. The switch is buried deep into the latch so you should get the straw on the cleaner deep in there and work it back and forth. Then put the screw back in. Hope people find this works. If the problem is that dirt gets inside there, WD-40 might help it build up worse, so I just used the electronics parts cleaner.
normcloutier
Looks like they haven't fixed the problem at factory yet because I just had the drivers door latch changed on my 13 SEL.
