OnlySkillz
Hi I tried programming the Garage door opener (Homelink) with my Garage door but was unsuccessful. I pressed the Smart button on the Garage control panel, then within 30 seconds held the programmable button in the Edge for 2 seconds, twice, and even three times like the manual stated. No luck. Am I doing anything wrong? I tried with both ignition on, and off.
Dingo
Way wrong. You don't touch the actual opener. It's all done with the car and the existing remote.
Cellbine
Skillz, Ā The way you are doing it is the alternate way to do it. Dingo has specified the first way the car manual states you should make the connection. After you hit the smart button you need push the home link button, like you are, until it makes the connection. If you are still having trouble getting it connected, visit your garage door manufacture's website to get specific instructions on how to link you Edge with it. Ā I am actually having trouble connecting mine too, but I think I can't connect mine because my opener is an older german one. Really sucks because I want to use home link. candurin
Did you follow the instructions exactly? I had to use my garage remote first and then use the homelink button on the actual opener for the second part.
timf
The two steps involved are: Ā 1. Hold the garage door remote next to the HomeLink transmitter and press the button on the remote and button on the HomeLink until the light on the HomeLink starts to flash rapidly. 2. Press the Learn button on your garage door opener, then press the button you programmed on the HomeLink. Ā It sounds like you skipped step 1. Ā I thought I read them as two different methods in the manual? The reason I didn't do the garage door remote method is because the battery actually died in it, so I decided to do the alternative method as stated in the manual. However, you are telling me both steps are needed, so I will replace the battery on it and try with that this time.
Cellbine
I also thought they were individual methods. Ill have to give that a shot.
RJG
If you are using same button that was used on another door...you might want to clear that out. Consult manual. Ā I just put in a new garage door. Wanted to use same button. Must have taken 5 minutes to pair up to new door.
Cellbine
I have never programed a button before. So none of them are programed. Just to be sure, I followed the instructions and cleared all the buttons. It just seems like homelink will kot recognize my handheld reciever. The homelink light never flashes quickly. I have tried many distances from touching homelink all the way to about 6 inches away and even directly behind the visor where homelink is located. I have held down the buttons until homelink just stops flashing all together. All of this done with fresh batteries in the remote. Still no luck. JOEHIO
I had problems with homelink when I got my MKX, called the help number that was in the manual, and the person walked me through the procedure, and all went well. They asked what kind and model opener I had.
Tacyon
Also I don't think that home link can do the scanning code type garage openers. The kind that change codes between the door opener mounted to the ceiling in the garage and the remote that you have in your hand. Ā I've got the old square box type and they programmed right up. One side for the wife's car and the other is mine. Ā The middle one is programmed to my brother's house even tho he's not lived there for some time ... drives the owners nutz. Every morning for the past month .. their garage door is open when they come out. Muhaha ! :evil2.0:
candurin
Homelink can do either rolling or static /fixed codes no problem. Older versions could only do fixed codes but since all new ford versions of homelink can do either (let's say 2006 and newer).
akirby
My 06 Fusion does rolling codes no problem.
timf
I have a rolling code opener which is programmed using the procedure I described above. The light flashing rapidly is an indication that it's using rolling codes. The light should be on steadily for fixed code openers.
