mrlnbravo
Can anyone please tell me how many "miles to empty" your gauge says when you fill up the tank on the 2008 Edge AWD limited?
akirby
That depends entirely on your average mpg. Each person's will be different.

mrlnbravo
Ok so my husband says that when we got our 2002 Ford Explorer brand new we filled up the tank and it would say 411 miles to empty and now that we have the edge with a similar tank size it only says 330 miles to empty, he insists we are losing miles and that something is wrong with the car....He is driving me crazy!! Help!!
Cellbine
Ok so my husband says that when we got our 2002 Ford Explorer brand new we filled up the tank and it would say 411 miles to empty and now that we have the edge with a similar tank size it only says 330 miles to empty, he insists we are losing miles and that something is wrong with the car....He is driving me crazy!! Help!! Mine said that too when it was new. I now have over 10k miles on it and whenever I fill up it says different things. I believe it goes off of recent mpg calculations from your Edge. If I have driven a lot of city recently the mpg is lower than if I have driven a lot of highway. Additionally, I believe that you engine's mpg will normalize after you have broken it in. Someone can probably help with when that exactly is, around 12k-15k miles I think. So in the early milage, you probably see fluctuation in the calculations. Waldo
Your Edge has a 20gal tank, your Explorer had a 22.5gal tank. So if you're getting 20mpg, that's an extra 50miles. So you should be comparing 380 in the Edge to the 411 in the Explorer. That's pretty close.

Help!! What Waldo said, plus - you really shouldn't be using MTE to determine your fuel economy. Use the computer MPG or calculate it manually when you fill up. Too many variables in MTE. KBrian
FWIW, our new-to-us 2008 Edge AWD Limited with 30K shows 430 m (690km) to empty when completely filled, and at 1/2 a tank, shows about 220m (350km) to empty with same on the trip odo.
