Engine cut out on me

Recommended Posts

  • 8 months later...

2011 Edge at 90,000 Km had the same "loss of power". Took it right to the dealer within 2 hours, but couldn't get any codes-because the engine was turned of and on. How can Ford say it is not a safety issue "because the power brakes and steering still work" Don't get me started.

So why is there a recall for the Throttle Body on my sons car-a 2012 Fusion-and not mine? All discussions seem to lean toward replacing the housing. After 6 days of infrequent driving, It happened again. I called 13 dealerships in the area, and no-one could look at the problem for another 6-10 days. So they want me to continue to drive this thing which could "die" at any time?

I called FORD customer care- and they were TERRIBLE. A supervisor finally did call me back- I was not able to speak to them at the time of my call. It was out of her hands-citing it was not company policy to have a car rental-or contact a dealer to have this problem looked at sooner. You telling me corporate FORD couldn't call the dealer to see if they could ask the dealer to call around their customers to reschedule some call.( They were hit with the Escape steering recalls). Maybe offer a free oil change to whom was willing to give up their spot. Or be creative. Make this customer HAPPY. My wife just had major surgery and I couldn't even use our car to pick her up at the hospital (I had to borrow my sons Fusion). Corporate FORD- you guys really dropped the ball on this one.

I had the same problem on my 2011 Edge. I called Ford customer service and they seemed to care less. I told them that short of people dying, I hope this turns out like the GM fiasco. Ihad the throttle body replaced for roughly $700. My wife still didn't feel safe and was REALLY pissed off at FORD. Later that week, traded in the car. Was upsidedown on the payment, but would rather that than to be squished by a semi on the interstate.

BTW: Had door ajar issue as well.

Hello howardpoole,

Is your Edge still experiencing those same symptoms? If so, please PM your full name, VIN, mileage, in-depth description of symptoms to relay to the customer service manager, and best contact number.

Once this info is received I’ll loop in a customer service manager in your region to assist.

Sure you can help. A refund on the throttle body replacement would be nice. Better yet recall it, so everyone can have it fixed. This is a very serious safety issue!

Hello MokeyJoe,

I do not have the authority to approve refunds. I’ll gladly document your dealer experience. Your opinions and feedback are valuable to us.

Please PM your full name, VIN, dealer name/address, details of your experience, and best contact number.

Once this info is received I’ll be sure to get it noted as we do take this matter seriously.

I have a 2011 Ford Edge Limited with 80,000 miles. This same issue occurred to me. Once on top of the Sunshine Skyway (scary) about 2 months ago and then this morning on the way to work. It was like the car was kicked out of gear but the accelerator would not work. Both instances, I was able to pull over to the side of the road and didn't have an issue once the car was restarted. I have been so happy with this car up to this point. Why has Ford not addressed this? What if I was pulling across traffic? Would someone please respond to me on how to get this address since the issue won't show up on the diagnostic? If Ford does not come through on this, this may be my last Ford product-ever. If I can't trust the technology, how can I buy another car from them?
