normcloutier
Does anyone know if Canadian models are shipped with synthetic oil? Living in the cold north, I was going to use synthetic oil in my yet to be delivered 2013 edge. My question is, when should I change over to synthetic? Right when the vehicle arrives or in the fall before it gets real cold? Obviously the extreme cold viscosity of synthetic is a plus for when you can't plug your vehicle in overnight but are there other pluses/minuses to using it over conventional oil? wlepse
I don't know if Ford uses a special break in oil but since their standard oil is a 5W20 synthetic blend you should be just fine with stock fill. Unless it is brutally cold and then you probably should be inside with a beer anyway.

They don't use special break-in oil but you're correct that the factory blend is sufficient except in extreme temps.
