The Outrage
My 2012 Ford Edge Sport has a non-metallic black grille. The grille was not painted Tuxedo Black by the factory. While Ford specified that the Sport model was equipped with a Tuxedo Black grile, it would seem that some (or all) 2012 Sport models did not come so equipped. What color is your Sport model's grille and what model year is your Edge? Edited April 24, 2012 by The Outrage
Dingo
Only some 2012s will have gloss black grilles. The following articles will explain it. http://wot.motortrend.com/pigment-problems-supplier-issues-could-leave-ford-red-black-paint-62563.html http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/05/10/autos-paint-idUSN109734720110510

c_bova
As already known, mine was Gloss Black until yesterday, now it is Tuxedo Black since Ford agreed to repaint it.
cozzz
My 2012 Sport came with the tux black grill. I ordered 3 new pieces from ford and had them painted the white tri-coat(like the rest of the car). I removed the Ford emblem in the center of the grill and seperated the logo piece from the chrome piece. I painted the chrome piece with black plasti-dip and put a plasti-dip clear coat on that. I also painted the chrome around the hood with black/clear plasti-dip. Makes for a very good look. Will post pics as soon as I put the grill back on. Fatstrat64
I am thinking my 2012 Sport grill has just the black as there is no metallic to it. If this is the case I am taking it back to dealer to get this resolved. I was waiting on my software update but now i will have them take care of both. Edgieguy
What about the spokes on the wheels? Those to are painted to match in Tuxedo Black. I recently ordered a replacement wheel and it came in gloss black. When I pointed this out and how it would not match my Tuxedo Black wheels, it was returned no questions asked. c_bova
all my wheels have the tuxedo black even though my grille was gloss black. but ford agree'd to repaint my grille so all is good.
Dingo
Ford has weird metallics lately. This fact plays a huge roll in one of my upcoming projects...
mooshin
My 12 Sport has Gloss Black Grill. Not sure I like the sparkle look of the intended color. I think the gloss black looks much sportier so I am happy with this screw up.
