normcloutier
I was wondering if anyone has converted the headlamps in a 2013 SEL to HID? HID is only available in the Limited version in Canada. Orderded my Edge last week and was dissapointed to find out I couldn't get factory HID.
Bryan003
The bulbs should be the same size as the 11s and 12s! Ddmtuning.com it takes the 9006hb4 bulb and you also need the wiring harness or the lights will flicker. I have the 55 watt kit with 6000k its really bright but not too bright that people wont flash you when they are on low beam Edited April 6, 2012 by Bryan003
c_bova
i got the 35w kit and it is plenty bright in my opinion and you won't need the wire harness for it. but if you like really bright then 55w is what you want and then you'll need the harness. there is a thread in the lighting section by kc300c
normcloutier
I am not sure if the U.S. models have daytime running lights like we have in Canada. Usually the high beams are on during the day at a reduced output. How would that affect a HID conversion kit? Has anyone installed the conversion kits on an edge with daytime running lights? OnlySkillz
I want to install HID's also, I just ordered a 2013 Limited, but didn't want to spend $600 for the HIDs. I want to convert my lights to HID also, and I don't want to go through wiring or whatever since you guys say it's too bright. I'll go with something lower, so does that mean all I need is the bulbs, is it an easy DIY? I've never done really any work on a car, I always get it done. Norm, I think the daytime running lights are the vertical ones/fog lights on the Edge.
candurin
If you want HIDs, you'll need to do basic (minimal!) wiring. 35W ballasts will simply connect to the OEM wire plug (plug in the bulb > ignighter > ballast) to the HID system. Really VERY, VERY easy to do. The hardest part is getting the OEM bulb out of the headlight and putting in the new one (look at kc300c's youtube video on it). You can have HIDS (any color/temp you want) for as little as ~$50. It will only take 30 minutes or less to wire it up. If you go with the 55W ballasts (which is what I opted for), then you only need a few additional minutes to include a wire harness that connects to your car battery. Very easy as well. Ask any questions you might have and well talk you through it (and convince you to perform another 10 mods or so :shades: ) Yes, the DRLs are the vertical LED light "pipes" in the lower section of the bumper. Even if they were the HID's (a few of my old cars, I had DDM HID's installed and the car utilized the headlights as DRLs), they would still perform fine and last the life of the car (at least mine did). I have one of those Edges. Strangely enough, Calfornia (Mine was a rental unit in California) vehicles must have DRLs and it's hard coded into the system (Dealer tried to disable but couldn't). I had to get another piece to work with the DRLs which will power them up for DRL duty.

candurin
Based on Prinzll's description alone, I would assume he is using the morimoto kit: http://www.theretrofitsource.com/product_info.php?products_id=3957
PrinzII
Could you tell us what kit you have? Actually, I got my kit from http://www.3bspec.com and moved it from my 2008 Edge to this one DDM and Restosolutions have similar setups.
