exodus
I added these LED reverse bulbs how do they look
Dingo
Looks good. Wish you had told me. I have some led backup bulbs here and some led amber front turn signal bulbs, too.
Dingo
Looks really good Exodus. You said they are LED? What type did you use and are they brighter than the stock incandescent bulbs? I link to them would be gret. Dingo, Since you have these reverse LED bulbs laying around after you installed your retina searing anti-tailgater laser cannons, whould you be willing to sell them to me? Are they brighter than the OEMs? Sending a PM...
exodus
I used the tower led bulbs from superlumination.com they are 921 bulbs in 6K
joshaustein
I'm waiting for KC300's guide on changing the reverse lights.... Cause this sounds like another job I wouldn't mind tackling, but i've become reliant on KC's videos
Dingo
Dude... Remove the 2 8mm bolts from the taillight. Pull straight back. Find the base for the reverse light. Turn 1/4 turn. Remove. Grab bulb. Pull. Test. Reverse.
joshaustein
I'll have to check that out... I haven't really examined the tail light section before. I see that they have 2 variations, i'm thinking this is the correct bulb: 921 18 LED Tower LED Bulb. Only 15mm diameter x 46mm overall. 18 (3 forward + 15 side facing) Super Hi-Powered Super-Flux leds Emit Light in All Directions. http://superlumination.com/906.htm These are the ones that are brighter than OEMs? Are these the same as the MAP lights, or are these a little longer? They look similar though.
Dingo
Those would fit. The ones I have for sale are brighter. Edited March 30, 2012 by Dingo
joshaustein
Sort of a side question relating to this. Once i get the tail light housing off, could I just change out all the bulbs in there for LED? I sort of recall reading something about the brake lights needing some extra stuff because they Dim... but i could be making that up. Could I replace the amber turn signal bulbs for LEDs without any other devices? Thanks! And Dingo I sent you a PM about those bulbs.
Dingo
All of mine are LED, except for the backup lights, which are HID. I also used red LEDs in the blinker. I didn't like amber in the tails.
candurin
Dingo, would the 912 HID kits work, no problem? Just concerned about heat build-up and melting the housings. Also, what are the specs on the bright LED's your referring too? Just trying to decide if I want to gamble with HID kits or try and get the brightest LEDs, I can. Thanks! FYI, here's the HID kit I am looking at: http://www.ebay.com/itm/HID-Reverse-back-up-Fog-light-kit-12V-15W-T10-921-194-W5W-4300K-White-Short-lamp-/170827281493?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27c6197455&vxp=mtr

The base wouldn't work well with the lamp socket, and the connector looks like trouble. The LEDs are these: http://www.v-leds.com/5K-WHITE-19-LED-8W-HIGH-p9507296-1-2.html
candurin
Thanks for the fast response... I'll steer clear of the HID's and go with your V-LED recommendation. Thanks!

mtbalser
Hey Dingo, what HID kit did you use for your reverse lights?
Dingo
It's not a kit anymore. I've changed and added so many parts that they're just kind of their own thing.

PrinzII
I have to return one of my LEDs to V-LEDs because it stopped working.
RobbN
That V-Led link did not work for me I would be ver interested in the best LED option(s) for my edge - Backup lights, tails, and Blinks. I am also interested in the front LED's but I saw the switchback video and they did not look bright and could not even tell they were working when the headlights were on. Can I get some V-Led Part numbers ?? thanks - 2011 SEL Edge
Tennesseefan
For what its worth, I used Cree LED bulbs in my reverse lights. Very happy. Got them on Ebay. www.superbrightleds.com for my interior LED swap
