  1. I have since learned that - but didn't bother responding back since it seemed the thread had died, but I guess it hadn't. I was finally successful at getting a pin through the proper forum.
  2. I like! Going to have to think about it for my red car.
  3. We had a good time laughing at the east coast. Eventually we did fess up and agree that you got a lot of snow in a very short time, but still laughed and laughed as we got very little snow in the same time frame.
  4. Looks like the dealer about 3 hours south already got in a stripped down Limited (actually has a stock id not just a VIN) and the other dealer near me (the one I didn't use) has one that was accepted to Ford two days after mine was. I think they are being unloaded from the same boat. I haven't heard back from my dealer yet from yesterday, but really I don't want to try and deal with the paperwork after work during the week. I have a 4 year old that we need to get home and fed and cleaned and attention paid too, so that would be a crazy thing to do. So I really don't want to know that it is ready till Friday at the earliest. I am extremely frustrated with the process of ordering. I know it isn't like an Amazon order (for those that we have already had that discussion) but dealers obviously have the information that we are getting from Cyberdman or twitter or whatever other ways we have gotten it. They need to remember that we are still a sale they can lose and should still be taking care of us as customer not as a done deal that they don't have to worry about. Good luck getting yours this week Wilson and enjoy it. Carrie
  5. I have pushed my luck to the end with my little escort and winter driving... there was one morning last winter that I pretty much needed a drink by the time I got to work, but the exits were so much worse that there was no turning around and going home. Just had to pray that it was better by the time I left to go home. Luckily it was. I decided that day that I wasn't drive that car another winter here. Either move or get a new car. I can't wait for my limited AWD due to me anyday!
  6. probably should have had it longer before testing that out, but sounds like it worked like a champ. Glad you and the car were ok.
  7. Me too Wilson - I played dumb to to my dealer yesterday and asked if my car has even been put on a boat yet and he never answered me. I am hoping that it will be ready for pick up Saturday.
  8. If I lived where snow was an occasional - or melted by most afternoons - I would have gone FWD, but with snow and ice an almost constant for 5 months - AWD this time around. I have driven a FWD car for all but the worst days for the last 8 years and been fine. Time to stop pushing my luck though.
  9. Do you do house calls? I really do promise I won't be going to these lengths for my new baby... I know I should, but I could promise and still wouldn't do it....
  10. I remember a time there weren't tinted windows in the back either. And everyone could see correctly - or wear sunglasses as needed. My mod would be to untint the back windows if I could. I am curious to see the blue grill - that sounds like something I would like.
  11. Considering my other sheet metal was technically still fine - I was purely upgrading for the technology. So might as well go all the way up. In fact I sold my 99 escort to someone wanting a good mileage commuter car. It will probably get another 100k out of it if treated as nice as I did.
  12. Glad I am not the only one.... I don't understand the 10's anymore...
  13. I can barely sit still! Cyber says it is still ETA 10/5 but I think that is out the window. I am guessing by end of this week.
  14. Yep - I am getting it too.... grrrrrr
  15. He updated me too!!!! it is in the PORT OF ANCHORAGE! I can look out my office window and pretend to see it. Oh how long does it take to get a boat unloaded and drive the truck of cars about 50 miles.... oh my, I WANT!
  16. Finally - been wondering if anyone had gotten the candy red. Congrats.
  17. wow - sounds like one of you two need to come to Alaska and take care of my car... I will wash it of course, but doubt that much detail will go into it for a while till I take it somewhere for a good detail wash down the road.
  18. I think there are picks in the welcome forum... something 070707 (trish or tayna or something) I am starting to lose track of what color everyone is getting.
  19. Congrats and welcome. My limited is on it's way. I can't wait to get to drive it. Post pictures of your new "baby".
  20. This could be a conversation between me and my hubby. I am tired of sitting so low in my escort, so I spent three months debating between the escape and the edge to decide what sits higher. The only difference is in Alaska there is about 10 trucks for every 1 little car - so tired of those headlights in my mirror and can't see around the trucks on the highway and pretty sure they plain couldn't see me since my roof only came to the top of their tires. But I love the "sits to low" that just made me smile.
  21. I don't remember where I saw it either but it is just the front door glass that is different for the sport and limited.
  22. Awesome write up Barry - I really appreciated reading it. Can't wait for my limited to get here around the end of the month.
  23. I have driven a front wheel drive in Alaska for the past 8 years with no problems, but I am looking forward to the extra handling for the extreme weather days that I still have to go to work and public transit is pitiful here. I also plan to not get studs for my AWD that I have always had in the past for the FWD. Both have their upside and downside...
  24. Knowing that everyone ended up ok ~ this story was awesome. I love the Moral at the end.
