  1. Thank you both for the feedback. It's over 140,000 miles at this point, but we want to keep the Edge running for our daughter who will be getting her license in the next six months. What could we expect to pay to replace all 6 injectors plus the plugs / coils, etc? Ballpark estimate would be fine. Would just like a basis to go by before bringing it to our mechanic. Thanks again!
  2. Sorry to dig up an older topic, but I recently had the same issue. My check engine light went on (blinking) and the engine seemed to run a bit rough. I brought it to a local mechanic who checked the code (fuel injector) and did a cleaning of the injector(s). He cleared the code as well. Everything was fine for about two weeks when the check engine light went on again. So, I bought a bottle of fuel system cleaner and, low and behold, the light went off. However, once the tank went down to 1/4 full, the light went back on. I noted that this was also when the light went back on after the mechanic cleaned the system. I'm going to try another bottle of fuel system cleaner, but has anyone seen any correlation between the level in the fuel tank and a fuel injector issue? Note that on my way to work this morning, the light was off again, and I have not filled the tank again yet. Thanks!
  3. Recently, I started hearing and feeling a vibration or rumble when I accelerate. It sounds and feels like I'm driving over a rumble strip. It only occurs for one or two seconds as I accelerate. It starts when I'm at approx 15 to 20 MPH and goes away as my speed increases. My initial thought was an unbalanced tire? But, I recently had two new tires put on and the tires were rotated and balanced during the service. This WAS happening BEFORE I had the tires replaced / rotated and is still happening AFTER. Any thoughts? Could it be something with the AWD to the front wheels? Thanks in advance.
  4. Okay all, here's a good one for you. Whenever I turn left, I hear a hissing noise like an aerosol can being sprayed coming from behind the glove box. It also sonds a bit like there is liquid sloshing around, but nowhere in the passenger seat can I find any moisture. This ONLY happens when the AC is on and I turn left. When the AC is on and I turn right? Nothing. When the AC is off and I turn left or right? Nothing. The AC is still cooling as well as it did before this started . . . I'm stumped!
  5. I already thanked igcitng via email. I have not taken the vehicle back to the dealership yet, but will keep the board posted. Per the TSB, they should have replaced the rear suspension trailing arm/knuckle assembly at the same time. The invoice only listed the part number for the bearing hub. Thanks again igcitng!!!
  6. Nextime, Thanks very much for the links. Unfortunately, when the TSB's pull up, they only provide a summary of each. You then have to pay to order the actual documents. "Please note that documents, which are summarized on database searches, may be ordered from NHTSA Technical Information Services. Fees are involved in providing these documents. The following link describes TIS Fees. Also described is the TIS Reading Room, where visitors can view and/or copy documents and files. " The TSB I was looking for only states the summary. "FORD: SOME VEHICLES MAY EXHIBIT A GROWL/HOWL TYPE NOISE COMING FROM THE LEFT AND/OR RIGHT REAR WHEEL AREA. *PE" I appreciate the help, but I'm still looking for the complete text of the TSB, not just the summary. Thinline, again, thank you too. However, I'd like to have a copy of the official TSB to bring in with me. I'm concerned that A. The service dept didn't even look up the TSB B. I asked them specifically to check the rear wheel bearings - so that's all they did and all they fixed. C. If the drivers side went bad, how long until the passenger side goes? My warranty is up in less than 3000 miles. D. If the TSB stated that they had to replace more than just the bearings, I want to ensure that it's done correctly. Thank you again for the responses. If anyone has access to the full text, I'd appreciate it.
  7. Thank you in advance. I appreciate it. VERY frustrating when a service associate tells you there isn't a TSB on something when I know that the opposite is true. I'd just like to have a copy in my hands when I go back in. Thanks!
  8. Can someone post the entire text for TSB 10-2-9? Googling it returns a couple of sites that either require a registration or a fee(?!?) I just got my Edge back this past Saturday. The invoice said they replaced the rear driver's side wheel bearing. If the TSB states that more needed to be done, I'd like to have something with me to "prove" to the dealership that they didn't do enough. When I picked up the vehicle, the service dept guy said he didn't think there was a TSB for the bearings. Ironically, I gave them all of the info, including the TSB number, when I dropped the vehicle off. I'm close to the 60 k warranty limit, so I'd like to make sure the work was done correctly. Thank you in advance.

  10. Thank you all for the feedback. I get the impression that the dealership is just looking for a sucker. I have a local mechanic that I'm sure would love the business. I'll have him do the tranny flush and I'll try to do the filters myself. Wheels were just aligned a month or so ago when I had the brakes done. It's too bad some of the dealerships out there are like this. No wonder they get such a bad rap!
  11. Hey all, I have my 2008 Edge Limited with 57,000 miles in for the rear bearing and PTU issues. Both have been fixed under the TSB's and warranty. While they have the vehicle, I figured I would have the 60,000 mile service done. The dealership quoted me an approximate price of $499.00. Is this a correct list of the services that should be performed? Change engine oil and replace oil filter Rotate and inspect tires; check wheel end play and turning noise Perform multi-point inspection Inspect automatic transmission fluid level (if equipped with under hood dipstick) Inspect brake pads/shoes/rotors/drums, brake lines and hoses, and parking brake system Inspect engine cooling system and hoses Replace cabin air filter Inspect and lubricate all non-sealed steering linkage, ball joints, suspension joints, half and drive-shafts and u-joints Inspect complete exhaust system and heat shields Replace engine air filter Replace fuel filter Change automatic transmission fluid - (Is this the same as a transmission "flush"?) Does $499.00 seem reasonable? If not, what prices have been paid out there? Thank you in advance.
  12. Thanks VERY much for the quick reply. I describe the noise as a humming or buzzing. Sitting in the driver's seat, it sounds like it's coming from the rear driver's side. However, if I move my head towards the center of the vehicle, it sounds like it's both sides. My noise actually starts at very low MPH, but the noise correlates to the wheel RPM and not the exhaust (when I rev the engine, the noise doesn't get louder) I'll call for an appointment and reference the TSB. I've already had the cam-shaft sensor issue. Just hoping this doesn't turn out to be a long term issue since I'm within 3500 miles of my warranty running out!
  13. I assume you mean that this is covered under the 5 / 60,000 warranty? I have an 08 with just over 56k miles. I believe I have the same issue. Do you have a link to the TSB that I could bring to my dealership. Thanks in advance!
  14. Can anyone verify whether or not this is covered under the 5 / 60,000 warranty? I began hearing the "humming" about a week ago. Gets "higher" as I go faster, so I know it's not the exhaust. From the descriptions above, I think I have the wheel bearing issue as well. I have an 08 and am just above 56k miles and would rather not have to pay for this if it's becomming a common issue. Thanks in advance!
  15. Thanks for the good luck! Dropped it off this morning and the dealer just called. It's the cam shaft phasers and they're covered under the warranty. They said it's driveable for now, so I'm going to pick it up and will bring it back in when the parts come in. They should cover my cost for the rental car as well since I believe this is the same issue that they fixed six weeks ago. I'll keep the board posted.
  16. In late May, I purchased a 2008 Edge Limited with 46,000 miles. Within two weeks of picking it up, the Check Engine Light came on. I took it to Autozone to read the codes and found it could be a cam-shaft sensor and/or solenoid issue. One physical symptom I observed was that the car would "rock" a bit when stopped at an intersection. Local Ford dealer took 4.5 days to diagnose, order parts and fix it. They replaced the cam-shaft sensors all around and a couple of other parts (don't have the invoice handy to give specifics). Fortunately, all was covered under the 5/60,000 powertrain warranty. Unfortunately, the cost of the rental car for the week was out of my pocket. Since then, the CEL came on about a week after the repair. I brought it back to the dealer and after having it for a day, they diagnosed it as a loose connection. (They paid for the rental car this time) All was fine for about two weeks when the CEL light came on again. Since my commute is rather short, I drove it for a couple of days and the CEL went off on its own. I was NOT feeling the rocking sensation like before. Fast forward three weeks and the CEL came on again. It stayed on for four days and went off on its own for about two hours when it came back on again. I called the dealer and will be bringing it back for a third time in three months. Has anyone else had chronic issues with the cam-shaft sensors, solenoids, valves, etc? I've seen several posts on the boards regarding similar issues. Just looking for outcomes. I love the Edge, but am getting sick of having to worry about when and if the light will come on again. Plus, it's not easy to spend that kind of money on a car and have issues like this. The CarFax report was clean - not that it matters much. Thanks in advance for any feedback!
  17. The Plasti_Dip looks interesteing and seems to be available at Home Depot, Lowes, etc. However, I'd be concerned that the extra "layer" might interfere with the fit. It's certainly worth a try. I wonder how it would stand up to road debris (sand, salt, water, rocks, etc) compared to a paint product . . . .
  18. Thanks for the re-direct. Unfortunately, I don't have the equipment to go sandblasting my bezels. Painting them over might be a cheaper option than buying the Sport inserts. However, they are still pretty pitted from road sand and such. I did do a search on Fog lights that didn't turn up the post you mentioned. Perhaps due to the posted spelling it "foglights". Oh well. Thanks again for the suggestions . . . Ghastly
  19. My 2008 Edge Limited has the chrome fog light bezels. They look "used" due to road wear, chips, etc. I'd like to replace them with the black 2010 Edge "Sport" bezels. Has anyone else tried this? Any advice on where to get the parts (cheaper the better) and how easy the swap is? Finally, if anyone has any pics of the fogs with the black bezels, it would be nice to see them. Thanks in advance! Ghastly
  20. Mike, Thanks very much for the info. I love my Edge, but based on issues with my last truck (1999 Dodge Durango), the long term maintenance cost was the biggest source of stress I was dealing with. My Edge is over 46,000 miles, but the deal I got on the price was too good to pass up - especially for the Limited trim level. The prices don't seem too bad - I'll take a deeper look over the next day or two. Thanks again! Ghastly
  21. Does anyone have any before and after pics? I'd be interested to see what kind of visual difference they make. Thanks!
  22. Sorry for the duplicate thread . . .I'm new to the forums. I'm a bit late to this thread / party, but thought I would start this discussion since I've been searching the forums for info. I just bought a 2008 Edge Limited with (gulp) 46,000 miles on it. Obviously, the 3/30,000 warranty is moot, but the 5/60,000 is still in place. I tried to go to the Ford ESP site and shop for an extended warranty that may cover items I've been reading about on the boards (chrome on the wheels, issues with the vista roof, etc). Due to the mileage, I don't qualify. Otherwise, the vehicle is in great shape. Does anyone have any suggestions? Any "honest" ESP vendors out there? Any help would be appreciated and I'm sure others on the boards would find it useful as well. Thanks in advance! Ghastly
