Update... I used the Ford TPMS reset tool and procedure on my Edge and it turned off the TPMS light that has been on constantly since I bought the car. And akirby, I had no electronic devices other than my cell phone in the car. Since the TPMS reset tool cured the issue I think its safe to say that wasn't the problem. Poor design and/or poor assembly line calibration are most likely the culprit here.

Edge Body Side Protective Moldings
cmccarthy replied to ACLazer's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
I just traded in the '07 I posted pictures of on a new '10 Edge. All the dudes at the dealer were asking where to get those moldings. They held up great for the whole 3 years I had it. I just ordered a set for the new one, I hope they can match the Platinum White paint. -
My '07 Edge did this as long as I owned it. About 30 miles into a road trip it would throw out a tire sensor fault. I always just lived with it, but it was aggravating. I traded it in yesteday on a 2010 Edge.... and 10 miles down the road I got a tire sensor fault. Woliver, I guess I gotcha beat there! I pulled over and of course the tires were all within spec. Its pretty aggrivating, I have to say. The price difference between my '07 and my '10 was considerable, it would be nice if I'd not paid all that money to have the exact same issue.

If you like the vehicle and want to keep it, go to another dealer. If you just want out, talk to a lawyer. It sounds like you have a case.

I just looked up a Lemon Law specialist on http://www.lemonlaw.com/ and let him do the work. It cost me $250 (which is tax deductible) and about 3 hours on the phone spread out over 4 or 5 calls. It took about 6 weeks from the initial consultation until I turned the car in. Laws vary by state and your results may differ, but thats how it went for me. One word of advice is to keep all of your service records, as well as a printed copy of your car's OASIS report. This assigns dates and times to your complaint, which is invaluable.

Ford bought back my 2003 Mach 1 after it developed an engine problem. They simply multiplied the mileage at the time the problem was first reported (~3200) by something like $0.20 and then refunded the me the purchase price minus the mileage calculation. They included interest I had paid as well as the cost of my window tint.

The main problem with manually checking mileage is that you have no way of accurately determining that you have filled the tank to the exact same level as the last time you refuelled. Hence, mileage figures can be skewed considerably.

My FWD '07 is averaging 19.4 in a mostly city mix. My wife drives it 99% of the time, and while not a hot rodder she certainly isn't driving like a grandma either.

Headrest DVD Players Installed
cmccarthy replied to btaback's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
The headrests look good, and the OEM style contrasting stitching is a huge plus. Its just a shame they only come with audiovox electronics, as that's just straight up Wal-Mart dogshit. I wonder if they would sell the headrests minus electronics so I could install my own stuff. -
Edge Body Side Protective Moldings
cmccarthy replied to ACLazer's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
I also ordered the sportwing body side moldings. I got the ones with the chrome strip in the middle since my truck has chrome clad wheels. I too was pleased with my order, and installation was a snap. Here's some pics of mine... Click on either image to enlarge them. -
Looks great.

Sweet. I posted a thread about this back when I bought mine but nobody had a firm answer. Thanks a bunch for confirming that they do indeed work.

Hmmm.... that weathertech one looks pretty much identical to my Ford Accessories one. What's the difference?

Full Set of Husky Liners w/ pictures
cmccarthy replied to Bryce's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Wow, that cargo liner is much nicer than the Ford Accessories one that I have. It looks alot like the one I had in my Jeep, which performed flawlessly and contained countless spills. -
Yes, the instructions tell you where to measure from and what distance they should be above the rocker panel.
-
No, they are very easy. The hardest part is making sure the masking tape reference line is straight, but even that is easy if you have a helper. The only require items are a roll of masking tape and a tape measure. I used 1/2" wide green auto body masking tape from Auto Zone. You might also need a razor if you don't have good finger nails, as its hard to remove the backing from the adhesive on the mouldings. Also, make sure once they are on there that you use something like a towel to rub from one end of the moulding to the other with firm pressure. This will assure a good bond. You can just barely see the tape between the moulding and the door from directly above, so make sure it is making 100% contact with the door, and has no gaps.

Well, I installed my sportwing door mouldings today. The instructions were precise and easy to follow, and the whole thing took less than an hour. I got the ones with the chrome trim because I thought they would compliment the chrome clad wheels, and indeed they do. Click either of these thumbnails for a larger view:

2 minutes with a fine scotchbrite pad will turn all of the chrome trim and polished aluminum into a matte chrome look, and completely eliminate glare. It looks cool too. Just make sure you make every scuff in the same direction so the grain is consistent.

The lower B-billar trim on the passenger side is broken on mine. Looks like someone installed it incorrectly during assembly and broke a clip off. I've got a new one on order. Other than that, the interior is fine in my Edge.

Is the MKX console lid wrapped in leather?
cmccarthy replied to cmccarthy's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Thanks man, thats what I needed to know. -
I received my sportwing mouldings from Ebay today and they look great. The color match is perfect. I'll post pics this weekend when I install them.

It's standard on SEL+ Edges. Turn your headlight switch all the way counterclockwise to activate them. Pull it out one click to have the foglights on auto as well.
