After completing an extensive, thorough experiment on my way home from work I have come to these conclusions. First - my experiment. I picked two geographical locations on the way home from both my and my better half's businesses. I named the first one Point A. I named the second on Point B. My able bodied assistant measured the distance between said two points. I specifically instructed her NOT to share her results with me as to not compromise the findings. I measured the distance between the two points on my way home. Upon my arrival at our abode, we compared findings. Able bodied assistant - 3.5 miles. Me - 3.5 miles. Yes. I know. Shocking. Startling. We had to drink a glass of wine to recover.

This is the perfect information to take to the Dealer (and/or tell the 1-800 number when you call). Documentation is always best. I am going to try an experiement on my way home tonight to see if my Edge is doing the same thing. If it is, believe me, I will be at the dealer in the morning screaming like a wild banshee. And then posting a "thank you" to you for pointing this out.

Call this number: 1-800-392-3673(FORD) Tell them your thoughts and that when you called your local Ford dealer and explained the situation and asked them to look at your Edge to confirm your concerns, they laughed and blew you off. I am sure they will want to know how a dealership responded to a customer's questions. I bet someone at that phone number will be able to help you.

Sweetie...shhhhhh.... Easy girl. Go to the dealer. Explain the flawless, scientific methods you used to determine these findings. I bet they can fix whatever "major flaw" is responsible for this obvious, intentional attempt to deceive the car-buying public. (Forgive my sarcasm. I juse figure that if this is all that is wrong with your life at this present time, you probably have it pretty good. This really isn't a big deal.)

Edge a/c; window glare; shifting noise
Good_Hands replied to coleen's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I have the Camel interior. Maybe I'm strange but the reflection just doesn't bother me. I can stare at the window and see the reflection but if I don't look for it, it isn't a factor. Of course, I can't see those "image in the pictures of little dots" things either. -

Excellent reply! Props to you! I also read a post or two about not being able to get the cold air to blow in the driver's face. I noticed this too but when I raised to steering wheel to the "highest" position, the cold air blows directly in my face. -

I have the Camel interior. Why can't you use them? I'm interested but I can't help but think.....if we have the same interiors.....and you can't use them...... -
No. Define awful. Dead animal awful? Burning rubber awful?

This is correct. It is located under the "floor" in the back and is in the space around your spare tire. I have it on my Edge and have use it for an umbrella, ice scraper, emergency first aid kit, flashlight, little tool kit and...um....I think that is it...lol. I have posted before about the cargo cover. My back windows came tinted and I added 15% tint all around. That makes my back windows super dark (limo tint). I can't see into the back unless I press my face against the back window and really strain to make out shapes. I think a thief will look for an easier target.

I agree with Edgy Girl. I live in Memphis, TN. Very humid and temps in the upper 90's. Closing the shade when I park does help keep the car cooler than if I leave it open. Even with that, I figure a small price to pay to have the BAMR. And yes. The Vista roof is an OPTION. You don't like it, don't have it. You have taken care of that (thanks to a very understanding dealer). Problem solved.

My back windows were tinted when I bought my Edge (assuming everyone's is?). I put 15% tint all around and with the back windows already tinted pretty dark, adding the 15 to them makes it nearly impossible to see into the very back.

I went with 275/45/20's with Enkei Chrome wheels. Plan on between $1500.00 and $1600.00 for new tires and wheels. Well, it could be more depending on what you get of course. That is what Hankooks and the Enkei's ran for me.

What made you choose your Edge?

Before the Edge, I had a Mazda RX-8. Whenever my wife and I would want to go someplace, we reallized that there wasn't much room for goodies from shopping, etc. We go to the beach at least twice a year and take at least 3 other pretty good road trips to visit friends. Eventually it became too much of a hassle trying to figure out how to pack the car with luggage and leave room for everything we picked up on our journey. I recently became an Allstate Insurance Agent. One day a gentleman and his wife agreed to roll over his two million dollar (plus) IRA/retirement fund into some Allstate products. I wanted to take them to lunch as a small thank you but couldn't do the driving (8 was too small). It was very awkward to say, "Thank you so much for your trust in me and my company with your future. I would love to take you to lunch...but...can you drive?" So, between that and not being able to take the 8 on long road trips, it was time to make a change. My dad is retired Ford Aerospace (Project Development) so I have always had some type of Ford/Lincoln/Volvo/Mazda etc product. I saw the Edge on a TV commercial and thought I would test drive one. Once I drove it, the decision was made. -
You are probably right - I'm sure after I became use to it I would never want to do without. OnStar - emergencies and the "fun-toy" factor. I think it would be pretty cool when traveling to punch a button and have them download directions to a new restaurant, etc. I know I could enter the address of the same restaurant and have it displayed on the Nav but.... I wouldn't have to Nav it or call and ask directions.
-
Guess I've been lucky. Between MQ (etc), calling the destination and asking how to get there, or following everyone else on their way to the alternate route, I haven't missed having a Nav. I drove an Edge with Nav for one day waiting for my Edge to arrive from another dealer. My main complaint was that the fingerprints on the screen were really obvious. I'm not knocking the Nav - I would get one in a second if it was combined with OnStar (or a similar system).
-
I passed on the Nav in my Edge. I use Mapquest, Googlemaps, etc. Much less expensive.

I like the one-touch power window, the power lift gate (if it will open and raise from a button on the key fob) and the HomeLink. The rest....cosi cosi.

Ford Edge vs. Cadillac Escalade (Guess who won)
Good_Hands replied to copperhead's topic in Competing Crossovers & Vehicles
I found myself cruising at 90 on the way back from Destin, Florida last week. I remember reading a post somewhere here about how easy it is to do 80 and not realize it until you see the blue lights in your mirror. I love my radar...lol. It is nice to know that there is enough "get-up-and-go" when needed. You never know when a train or an 18-wheeler or a 747 or an Escalade is bearing down and you and you have to move quickly to get out of the way. I agree with rehtaf. Time and a place. (By the way, mine are V - Hankook Ventus ST 274/45/20 - and I didn't have to look) -
Ditto that. Pictures from up close, far away and the sides please.
