Edge on 22's - Not mine but you can buy it...
Good_Hands replied to Bryce's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Fair enough. Please tell me: 1. Who made the body kit? 2. What is it called? 3. What wheels are those? 4. What tires are those? -

MKX body kits and other accessories
Good_Hands replied to aeb430's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Those are 3 pictures taken at the NYC auto show with the MKX with the body kit, lowered, rims, and those things on the side. -
Bite the bullet. Get the extras you want and if you are stuck with the ugly wheels and undesired tires; so be it. You can change wheels and tires much easier than the other "stuff." Plus, some tire/wheel places will let you trade in when buying new from them.

That is actually a very good point. I have been on a few boards with other vehicles I have owned and they had a forum for "Vendors." Any company who wanted to sell accessories, vehicles, ask suggestions for add-ons, etc., could post in this forum. Might be an idea here. This way if someone does actually come up with aftermarket mods/parts, they would have a place to post. -

Is remote starter avail on 2008 Edge?
Good_Hands replied to DeeKC's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I have a remote starter. My wife goes out into the garage and starts my car. Ha ha hah.......I just kill myself sometimes. (I'm kidding. I actually start her car...turn on the ac/heater.) -
Dropped my Edge off at the dealer this morning so they can address a few minor problems. Rattles, squeaks, missing things etc. They gave me a 2008 Excape XLS as a loaner. First thing I noticed when I got in....an absolutely terrible glare/reflection from the dash. No BS. I didn't even have to try and look for it. The glare is so clear I can see the top of the steering column and the "emergency flasher" control. I can even read the reflection from the "Passenger Airbag Off" display. Now...yes...I have an Edge and I'm somewhat partial but..I really did look at this with a non-prejudice eye. The reflection on the Edge (that I have to "look" for) is nothing...NOTHING compared to the Escape.

Carbon with Camel Interior. Purchased 6/21/07. SEL Plus - everything except the NAV and the DVD. Reflection/glare issues - I have driven with and without sunglasses and it isn't an issue. Yes, if I LOOK real hard for the reflection in the window, I can see it. Brakes - Just hit 3000 miles this morning and I don't understand this one at all. No issues with the brakes. Gas Mileage - I reset the MPG counter when I picked the car up. Aside from about 1K miles going to Florida and back, every mile (except for about 20) has been city driving. MPG counter says 17.3 MPG. I reset it this morning because everyone says it improves after 3K. Enterprise Rent-a-car (at least here in Memphis) has a couple of Edges for rent. I would get one for a weekend and drive the *#(@ out of it. See for yourself. The only thing I would change on this car would be to be able to open and close the back hatch off the keyfob. I believe the 2008 will have the option of opening the hatch available (not sure if it will close though). Every new car has problems. Little squeeks and creeks, and some issues that can be fixed with relatively no problem - and no cost since it is under warranty. If you have read through the forum, you will see there has been a few major problems - all that have been fixed. But you will also so that a majority of us absolutely love our Edge. You will too.

Wheel Size? 17, 18 and now 20 inch wheels
Good_Hands replied to Smiley's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I have 275/45/20's on my Edge. You can check the gallery for the pics - one is taken from the back up close so you can see the width. www.1010tires.com has a "Tire Size Calculator" that allows you to put in different sizes and compare them to each other. The wider the tire, the better the grip; handling, etc. But with the Edge, it's pretty much all about looks. -
Maintenance schedule? For instance, oil and filter changes?
Good_Hands replied to jeffreybehr's topic in Mods & Tech
Here is something interesting. They tried to sell me a maint. plan. $795.00 for all the oil changes, tire rotations, balances, brake pads, etc for 3 years. They said oil changes were at 5000 miles. I talked to a friend of mine who runs a Firestone Tire Center and he said it is actually a good deal; based on his cost for the same services. I looked through the owner's manual and saw 7500. Then I receive something in the mail from the dealership reminding me to come in at 5000 for my oil change. I plan on showing up at 5000 miles, with mailer in hand, hoping they tell me I have to wait. -
The CS part of the scenario is more of a scare tactic to the dealership. I'm sure the sales manager doesn't want to hear you on the phone to CS discussing the unsafe and unhealthy condition of the loaner they gave you. You can do all this and stay on good terms with them. Calm, direct and forceful is the key. Only when they don't satisfy you is when you make the phone call.
-
Take the car back and demand another. Speak firmly but loudly until someone gives you satisfaction. Have the Ford Customer Service 800 number on speed dial and if they dealer won't give you satisfaction, call CS while standing there. All while not yelling, but yet, not keeping your voice low either. And not to talk about woulda, coulda, shoulda but....after the first 30 minutes, you should have been screaming at someone demanding another car. Then after 35 minutes, your husband should have been on the phone with them.

Props to Edgy Girl - always best to consult with the better half. I have the Carbon. If there is a bit of wind 18 miles from where I park, the dust finds its way to my car. I'm sure the Black is the same way.

Take notice first - I'm not a big fan of blue so.... I'm not really feeling the Light Ice Blue. I would stick with the silver.

I'm in far southwest Tennessee. Would love to come but it is a bit of a drive.

Oh come on now. Don't hold back. Tell us how you really feel.

Just my .02 worth bu I would have told them to forget it; or get me a new MKX with it installed like I ordered/wanted. I had an aftermarket Sirius installed in my old car and the place did a great job. But what you described is insane. If they can't do it like it is factory, then they don't need to do it period.

An acquaintance of mine and her husband sells automatic car-washing equipment. They told me to be careful of the "touchless" because the chemicals are much harsher and stronger than with the "touch-method." They need to be since the only thing washing the car is the liquid. They said that the newer type car washes (Splash, Rapido Rabbit, etc; free vacuums) are all "touch-method" but the material they use is very soft and will not cause damage to the vehicles.

Carbon for me. Shows dirt and dust almost immediately. I like Meguires products the most. I use just one bucket and mitt and the spray hose after to get the soap off. Twice a year I go to a custom detail shop for a good wax.

Would love to see a picture of how it looks with the H & R's. Also....um....are you accepting how they installed your Sirius?
