Heck. You just mentioned several reason for finding a new dealer. That's insane. Just about any other dealer would be better. I'm kinda wishing I had gone to a Kansas City dealer over this small dealership in Topeka. The dealerships are bigger so I'm guessing they have more stroke when it comes to getting the cars they want. Check out Lincoln, Omaha, or Bellevue (my birth place)

That would be great if you could get some "SPY SHOTS" of the motherload

One thing that I have been curious about... Have they gotten away from the ugly keypad on the door? I saw another Ford with the keypad hidden in the B pillar

After my 2011 edge ordering experience, i'm learning that the whole dealership model needs to be dumped. Think Amazon. I want to buy my next NEW car on "Amazon"

Interesting Looks like the "Late Summer" availability is not going to happen. I wonder if they are having issues with the build of the Edge. I've decided to chill out and not expect mine till October.

Does it help if you live near the factory? I know that at least one plant is located in Ontario. (mine is/will be built there)

Great news! I think this is the first delivery date we've seen on this forum. I'm still waiting on VIN. I'm thinking my dealer didn't submit my order in May like they said they were doing. I'm getting conflicting statuses when I call dealership, 1-800, or twitter. The person on Twitter seems the most knowledgeable. The 1-800 rep lobbed me off to the dealership to get my status. That was rude.

That's great news to hear. Keep us posted. I'm curious how long it will take from build week to delivery.

I keep reminding myself that it's a good thing to not be in the first wave of Edges coming off the line. But I still can't wait!!

This is where I think there needs to be a rework on the way new cars are sold. I should not have to deal with a dealer. This is an old way of doing business that needs to change. I'm beginning to think that my order that I thought was submitted in may, probably didn't get submitted until I had CS call the dealer Monday.

Wow! Where did you order your edge? It's clear that it doesn't matter when you order. I think ford needs to work on the ordering process. I would expect the kind of status feedback that I get from amazon...doubt that will ever happen though. Not all dealers and/or customers are created equal

My salesman said they had ford come to the dealership with a new Edge yesterday. Everyone got training. He was stoked! He said "We had 2011 Edge training yesterday and a guy from Ford had one here to show us and it is really amazing. The interior with the My Ford Touch is one of the coolest things I have ever seen. You can control pretty much everything with it." Pretty wild to know the sales staff needs training in the wild cabin tech! I can't wait!

I know where you are coming from. I've been getting fed up because I could get no status of my order (placed in May) I Twittered @FordCustService today (with my order number) to see if they could give me info. Initially, they said , " Dealers should be receiving shipments early Sept. I tried 2 look up ur order # but no results." After a few hours, they twittered me back and said they found it. It's status is "In Process". The next status is VIN assignment. I feel a little more at ease

My salesman said the dealership is due to get their edge the week of aug 8th. When asked abbot my order, he replied... The Ford guy told us they are scheduled to start building order units the second week of August. So hopefully that means we will get them sometime in September. This has sure been a long summer

Well, today is July 12th. Let the 2011 Edge build begin!! I spoke to my dealer last week. He says that the dealership has an edge on order and it's scheduled delivery is week of Aug. 9th. He tells me to expect mine sometime late August to early September.

Has anyone heard any new information on the 2011 Edge build and/or delivery dates?

In this 21st century, we must be able to quickly flip a switch and be "re-tooled" Im glad to hear they are getting some practice building before they build mine!

Waldo, Is this an informed statement? There have been others in this forum who would say they knew that the build starts in July. Does anyone really know?

Where did you see july1? It would be my guess that if the plant was scheduled to be down July 5 week, they would be retooling for the 2011 production.
