Disabling FOB buttons
wilsons66604 replied to wilsons66604's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Oh Stop it Choff! "Man Bag" That ain't goin to happen I know that you really envy me for not having to carry one. I have noticed that it only gives me a problem when wearing jeans. Dockers are baggy enough to where it's not an issue. JEEZ -

The twitter folks were very helpful early on but as I was trying to track the exact location of mine, they kinda pulled back and just told me "in transit" Then one day, one of them (got tired of hearing from me i guess) emailed a spreadsheet of the complete log of the rail transit. That day I was sitting at the dealership and watching them unload my car. I called my salesman and told him that my car was here. -
iPhone Bluetooth Audio?
wilsons66604 replied to TheCount's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Sounds like my issue! I'm amazed when it works without intervention. BTW: iOS4.1 has bugs and it is also required to utilize the track advance feature. Let's hope iOS 4.2 helps. It's due out in Nov. -
This is not a common issue on this forum. While pulling the fuse 29 or disconnecting the battery help some things (like rebooting a troubled system) If that did not help, you need a hardware fix. I would guess it's Sync CPU (little computer) tucked away under the console or seat (not sure where they are hiding it) Let your dealership know that you are calling Ford Customer service. It's clear that they don't know how to work on these new Edges

My new 2011 Edge's key FOB is too sensitive. I keep my keys and fob in my from jeans pocket. Too many times i have inadvertently set off the alarm or popped open the lift-gate. Just last night I left the restaurant to find that my rear lift-gate had been wide open long enough that the interior lights had gone out. Other times, my neighbor would call me to let me know it was up. I checked the setting for disabling the power lift-gate but that just disables it if I try to open it by hand. The car alarm is more frequent because it only requires on push. Last week, I came out of a restaurant to my car alarm going off (pretty sure I was to blame) Does anyone know of a option to disable those buttons on the fob? or... How about a some kind of sleeve that will make it harder to accidentally push the buttons

I had XM for several years and when I learned I was ordering a Edge with Sirius, I called XM and tried to see what options I had. They couldn't even transfer my account. The only option they would offer was a stand-alone player and 1/2 price subscription to stay with XM

My previous car was a Camry Hybrid that gave me 32 MPG. I used to forget that I had to refuel! Not now! With just over 1000 miles on my AWD Limited, I do mostly city driving and get about 18 MPG at best. Driving 79 MPH on the highway I was able to squeak 21 MPG I don't miss the Hybrid much. I'm thinking that the hybrid is a dying fad. The standard engines are getting better and better these days and why deal with a big heavy battery. I was dreading the day when I would have to pay for a new Hybrid battery pack in my Camry. It was swell while it lasted but hybrids are not all that great.

Are you pushing too hard?? This is a touch screen. I have found that you don't need to push to select the button. Just touch it. It's more critical to touch in correct location.
-
Choff..to clarify, you have AWD and no dam. right?
-
Hey! I have a AWD also. I wonder if that is the deciding factor. The AutoBlog review was FWD Anyone with an AWD and the damn dam?
-
Looking at the gallery on the Ford site, I can see two pics with the air dam. Here is one of them...

Mine has always said "AV In"

I've had an issue with my seat not remembering how to move forward. I thought I had fixed the issue by pulling fuse 7. The easy entry/exit worked fine...for a week. Now it has quit working and fuse 7 doesn't help. The easy entry/exit feature pushes the seat back but will not pull it forward when I start the car. Also, if it switch from memory 1 to memory 2, everything moves to the new positions except the forward movement of the seat.

The AutoBlog car is a Limited 18" wheels with the dam. My car is a Limited 18" w/o the lower dam.

I really like the BAMR. While taking the time to detail my Edge ( a great way to get to know your car), I discovered that the right rear plastic trim piece for the roof seems to be loose. This is the 1 wide strip that runs the length of the roof. It seems as though the rear portion of the strip is not seated into the roof like like it is on the right side. Is this common??

I'm not sure about your sales relationship but I have determined that my salesman has LIED to me on every issue. Salesmen can not be trusted. They have ONE objective. Sell a car. I will bypass him and start with the service dpt. Then Ford customer Service if I have to.
-
The Auto Blog review and photos are form a Limited. I ask WHY. If it it is much to do about nothing, WHY did Ford bother to place the 4" air dam on the damn car? It's not packing material! I'm putting on my tin foil hat and saying they figured out how to get another MPG. If they put the damn dam on the car, they could update the window sticker.

Welcome to our world!! There are still a few bugs and the iPhone is at the top of that bug list. Let's hope that the next iPhone update AND sync update will help us all to get along! The head rests are BIG. I have BLIS but I have also learned how to adjust my mirrors. It's so much more comforting when you know you are not missing anything. Check out the the instructions on the Car Talk website. http://www.cartalk.c...atures/mirrors/ This really changed the way that I look at the world. They lead off by saying, For years, we'd been setting our side-view mirrors so that they gave us a view of the back corner of our cars. This is the way it's been done for generations - from grandfather, to father, to us! But we finally discovered something very interesting. The back corner of the car never moves. It always stays in the same exact place. So there's really no reason to keep an eye on it. By moving the side mirrors farther out, you can line up all three of your mirrors so they have minimal overlap -- and you can see everything behind you and beside you. http://www.cartalk.com/content/features/mirrors/CarTalkMirrors.pdf -
I noticed today that my dealer finally got several Edge's in stock. I will be checking each of them tomorrow.

brucemd says he has it on his. As far as fuel mileage, I'm no aerodynamics engineer but I would venture to guess that there is a reason for the added part. My Camry had a similar flap in front of the rear tires. Have you seen Formula 1 cars? They have all kinds of square flaps, wings, and devices to trick the airflow. My GUESS is that this flap reduces turbulence that they have found in testing. Turbulence that can reduce MPG performance. UPDATE: While I'm not an aerodynamics engineer, my son is. He has just told me that they are most likely put there for mileage
-
Correct! That little flap is NOT on my car. Sounds like brucemd has the flap on his SEL.
-
You can swipe it but it won't do anything. The screen is just a collection of buttons that you can touch.
-
The picture that was attached is MY Edge Limited with NO air Dam. It was built on Sept 9th The link to an AutoBlog pic shows the air dam on their test vehicle. I wonder what is going on?? Will I get better gas mileage if I have the reverse mud flap installed??? I won't have it installed but it's weird that some have it and some don't. What else am I missing out on?

I was reading a good review on AutoBlog.com when I noticed the little air damn in front of the front tires AutoBlog.com pic My car doesn't have that little 4" spoiler in front of the front tires. Does your's?
