  1. I found a way to make them dim. I suppose you can turn off the auto dimming feature and then they should stay bright. I'm not sure how the this plays into the mix but check your hard switches for instrument lighting to the left of your steering column, Is yours turned all the way up? On the Touch menu for the display lights, I select Auto Dimming then there is a slider control to tell it how much of an offset to dim when the lights come on. It controls all displays. In fact, when the lights automatically turn off, I see a bar graph in the left hand LCD telling me that the display is being set to bright.
  2. Where is the headlight switch?!?! Oh, there it is. Hidden next to the hidden personalize buttons 1&2
  3. Go to your dealer and do a test drive to get a real feel for the nav. I like mine!
  4. Ford is failing in the communication of the updates. All though I did get one letter in 6 months. That was for v2.7 All other info about updates were found on this forum.
  5. Check the settings in the Touch menus. Try turning off auto dimming.
  6. This is a good read. I'm not surprised. I was always saying that Ford hired interns to code Touch.
  7. This is a good thing. I'd be concerned about the dealership's tech that tried to update your system resulting in a "bricked" apim
  8. I miss not having the indicator for my headlights. As far as instruments dimming...there are settings in the Touch system for that. You can tell it how dim the panel lights should go if the headlights are on. The problem with putting this setting in the Touch system is that it's in the Touch system! It seems like the settings are not retained when the system reboots. The default setting is full bright regardless of headlights
  9. YES! I noticed that very early on. It seems odd that Ford left that out.
  10. I have the Ford rubber mats. I like them. Yes, they won't hold a gallon of melted snow but for normal winter conditions, they work well for me.
  11. It's all about priorities! The morning after I took delivery, I had the windows tinted.
  12. I agree. When I first saw this thread, I thought ... Hell, I've used more than 20 ways to ruin my paint.
  13. Great Post! I was thinking the same thing. I recall my road trip from KS to KY when i found my car was covered in bugs from lower grill to the ROOF! After a hiway drive, I've been stopping at the coin wash to rinse the bugs off...only because Im not carrying MFTs and a spray wash. Let's hope the pros chime in!
  14. I wish I had to be within 3ft before the fob opens the rear gate! I have found the gate open MANY times. My body type lends itself to premature fob presses while I'm doing normal activities in the house. UPDATE: Heck! Today I was walking my dog. Looked back at my house a few hundred feet away. My tailgate was up and the lights were on. This tells me that the act of walking my dog will trip my tailgate from 200 feet away!
  15. That's promising! The reason I asked about the "For your convenience..." prompt from the sync lady is because I think that is a sign that the system rebooted while you were away. Let us know if you ever notice a reboot.
  16. My guess is that it would have to be a very strong rain to get the same results as a hose running full stream over the door handle.
  17. Is this with a 2011 Edge? What version of Sync are you on? I get this from time to time ever since I updated to version 2.7. Ford is rebooting the Touch system to clean up the errors that have accumulated over a period of time. Before version 2.7, I used to have to get on my hands & knees and pull fuse 29 to force the reboot. I wonder if v2.8 has fixed any of this.
  18. Have you seen any signs of a reboot ...."Performing Scheduled Maintenance" ? Has the Sync voice bugged you with..."For your convenience.." ? I'm on 2.7 and I get both of those frequently
  19. Just go into dealer and tell them that your system is not working correctly and you want the latest update (2.8).
  20. That's what I was thinking too. I noticed the doors locking/unlocking when I run a hose over the door handles also
  21. The new pictures look much better! I take back what i said when I saw the first round of pics. Nice job!
  22. I have the ProClip for my 11 edge. I chose the one that mounts on the right rail of the console (the other option mounts to the right of the steering column) I've got a black iPhone cable neatly routed from USB, under the silver console rail then into the mount. I didn't use the tape when mounting and it stays put with no problem. This makes it easy to remove the Proclip whenever I like. Don't forget that the car mount is a one time purchase. When you get a new device, you only have to purchase the holder for that device. I'm currently using the iPhone 3g device holder with my iPhone 4. It works great. I prefer to use BT audio but went ahead and got the holder so I will be ready for Pandora when the Touch version of AppLink is released. I read that iPhones would require a USB connection for Pandora functionality.
  23. Yep. This version of Touch has major issues due to poor memory management. A reboot or pull of fuse 29 always seemed to clear up issues. You will still see issues but the regular reboot resets the memory and makes everything OK again. I'm looking forward to version 6.2
  24. They fixed all the problems with a scheduled reboot. (same results when pulling fuse 29)
