  1. Just in time. My Touch system went stupid again today. I plugged in a USB stick with the DelayedReboot file on it. It installed in about 10 seconds. Turned off the car and waited 30 seconds. When I restarted, the system rebooted! To make sure it wasn't a fluke, I did it again. This is will be a big help. Here are the instructions included in the zip file...Enjoy! :happy feet: UPDATE: I made a slight mod to the install so it would not rename the files. This will allow you to keep the USB stick in the car and use it over and over again without reloading it. When the download is complete, unzip the patch to a flash drive. [NOTE: Be sure to unzip the patch directly onto the flash drive, not into an existing folder.] --INSTALLING THE REBOOT SOFTWARE IN YOUR VEHICLE: 1. Start your vehicle and turn on the audio system. 2. Insert your flash drive (containing the patch) into your vehicle's USB port. 3. The installation process will begin automatically, and should take about 10 seconds to complete. A dialog box will let you know when the patch has been successfully installed. When the installation is complete, remove your flash drive from the USB port. 4. Turn off your vehicle's ignition for at least 30 seconds so that the system can reboot. 5. After at least 30 seconds have passed, start your vehicle again. Your vehicle's screen may be black for up to a minute. Then the "Performing scheduled system maintenance" screen will appear, and will last for a few minutes. Delayed_Reboot.zip
  2. I had considered the switch in the fuse panel but if this USB solution works....I'll use it instead
  3. Sync posted a new list of Phones on their site last week... http://www.nsapp.fordtechservice.dealerconnection.com/sync/usEN/sync_us_EN_iop_2_00.pdf I noticed that they don't list the contact photos as a feature. They list SMS but not Contact photos
  4. Yesterday, my Touch system started acting up. FM was the only audio it would play. I was hoping it would do the automatic reboot but it didn't. After a couple of hours, I did the Master Reset from the menu. The only thing that did was to wipe out my data and settings. Finally, Touch rebooted and it began working again. It sure would be nice to reboot at will without pulling the fuse. I think I just got the answer from drpepper on the Sync forum. He said that the patch for the Sirius radio (see attached) included a reboot in it. I'm going to give it a try later today. Looking at the files in the patch, I see the script for what it runs.... [SYNCGen2_ALL] Item1 = Sirius GCI Update Fix Open1 = BT4T-14D546-GA.cab Item2 = delayed Reboot Open2 = DelayedReboot.cab Options = AutoInstall, RenameLst I wonder if I can edit this and just have it do the reboot without the Sirius update... [sYNCGen2_ALL] Item1 = delayed Reboot Open1 = DelayedReboot.cab Options = AutoInstall, RenameLst Any thoughts? EDIT: see post below for the install
  5. I think the tint makes the headlights look like the dull / yellowed lenses on a '93 Neon.
  6. That's not uncommon. I've had my car for a year and I get the hour glasses from time to time.
  7. Go to SyncMyRide.com with your VIN and sign up. It will show you the version that is installed.
  8. Yes. The system needs to be reset after a oil change. You can reset it from the system menu on the left side of instrument cluster.
  9. I was also on 2.7. I had the random audio source problem before I went to 2.11. The upgrade didn't help it. The random audio source is during startup. Sometimes it will start playing my last used option (BlueTooth) then switch to FM My guess is that they've been adjusting the sequence of system startups to make the nav and voice have priority. This sometimes makes the audio systems guess at a source while it's waiting for a slice of processor time
  10. HEY! congrats on the new 2012 Edge! I bet you can find a pro to detail your NEW ride for a few bucks
  11. My 2011 Vista Roof would drag to a halt before closing. I would have to help it to close. The service dpt seems to have fixed the issue with a healthy dose of blue grease. EDIT: Excuse the odd rotations of the photos. Pic 1 is upside down. Pic 2 is is 90d off
  12. Today, I noticed that 2.11 is treating the USB devices differently. It wouldn't see my 2nd device (iPhone 4 in a cradle) That's never been an issue. USB1 would show up with NO device name (Wilsons iPod). I think they might have robbed "brain matter" from the USB ports and given them to the BlueTooth routines. My iphone 4 on iOS 5 beta 7 has been acting better than ever (however, not perfect). The new Spotify app works great!! Better than Pandora or Stitcher. Of course my balloon sometimes bursts and I end up listening to whatever source Touch thinks I should use.
  13. Only 27 minutes?!? Wow. Mine took 3 times as long (but I was sitting still ) My weather map has always been useless. I think I got a correct radar image 3 times in a year. Do you have much luck with the weather map display?
  14. Go for it! Nothing to lose. If anything, the 3-4 reboots during the install will clear things up.
  15. Early on, my stereo kept defaulting to DSP vs Stereo. The DSP sound sucks. Make sure you are set to normal stereo.
  16. The lower plastic parts helped me to decide on my Black Limited over a Sport model. If maintained, they blend right in while being more durable than painted parts. Trim restorer works great and last 'forever' EDIT: auto correct correction
  17. Pictures like this sold me on giving a sh** about my car's finish. My last car looked like the 'before' side. Hell, it looked like that when it was "new"! I didn't know any better. Some may say I'm "anal". Well, I agree. Seeing the difference has made me "anal" about my car's finish. EDIT: Now I know how to buff out that mark from a glancing blow of a falling tree limb or an occasional door ding. (If I only I could do paintless dent repair. )
  18. It's been nearly a year since I took delivery of my black Edge. I've learned a great deal from the pros (Canuck) in this forum and have stayed away from the car washes. I've ben doing it by hand. I've driven my ride through a touch-less wash twice to get the under body cleaned. The other day, a shopkeeper helped me to the car with merchandise. She was amazed at the shine & sparkle of my car. When I retuned to the shop a few hours later, the shopkeeper made sure her employee went out to look at it! That is great confirmation that I've been treatin' her right. Thanks for the pro advice!!
  19. Since the 2.11 install, I've noticed a delay before the headlights come on. I saw this issue several months ago v 1.xx Could the auto headlights be waiting for MFT to start up?? I don't know but I have my suspisions. that said... Is your trip to Maine during the day light hours? I would hate to have the lights go out during one of many reboot sequences.
  20. My town only requires an eye test to get a license. People couldn't figure out 4-way stops so they have been installing roundabouts everywhere. One must drive defensively in the big capital city of KS!
  21. I get irritated when people tell me my opinion is wrong and should not be shared with others.
  22. Yes. Regardless of operating system, we would still have problems if FORD used the same programming team.
  23. Page 47 of my owner's manual shows the speed compensated audio feature that I've been using since day 1... Audio settings To make adjustments to the sound settings, press MENU > Audio Settings to access: • Spd. Comp. Vol.: Scroll to select Speed Compensated Volume and press OK to enter the menu. This feature automatically adjusts the system’s volume to compensate for speed and wind noise. You can set the system between off and +7. Press OK to confirm and close.
  24. While the 2.11 patch is not the holy grail, the fact that I was able to install it myself is a BIG WIN! Thank you FORD!
