  1. It's not normal for the iPhone 4. It's more of a MFT feature. Try playing something on the iPhone 4 then plug it into the USB while it's playing. Also, be sure you are using the original iPhone cable.
  2. Ya, There are not enough people with the new phones out there either. Speaking of new phones...the iPhone 4s has Bluetooth 4.0 in it. From what I've seen of the Bluetooth 4 specs is that it has the MAP protocol. If that is the case, the new iPhone just might support the SMS text reading feature!
  3. Most of the issues you listed could probably be helped by a software update. I've had my driver seat try to kill me twice. It kept moving forward until I turned off the car and jumped out. At one point, the dealership replaced the module that controls the seat. It has happened since. Sometimes the seat forgets how to pull itself forward when I start the car. To rectify that, I get out and move the seat all the way forward and all the way up. That seems to fix the easy entry/exit feature.
  4. Well, AppLink is a start. I'm thinking that they could rely on the new phones to do more of the heavy work.
  5. Just a thought after seeing the SIRI feature on the new iPhone 4s Imagine if Ford modified the MyFordTouch system to just be a stupid interface to our over powered phones. The world would be a better place
  6. The best upgrade to date is the Self Install. I took my car in on the day that the Sync guy was in the shop. I never got the upgrade because the stupid service writer said I had the latest version 3. WTF!
  7. WOW! Good on you you Dr! Ford must be generating the cab on a "as needed" basis. Darn. Oh well, I'm still happy with the delayed reboot. Thanks!
  8. Kirby, to most people, that post would look like greek.
  9. I did break down and did a couple of brushless drive throughs last winter because I needed the under body spray. I would drive SLOW into the wash bay while it did a high pressure job on my under side. The only negative on this is that the drive through is pretty tough on the wax finish.
  10. A good way to see if the VIN is in the cab file would be to let someone else try to run the reboot. I'm willing to test it! (Check your private messages Dr)
  11. Re-Doing won't help. I think you just need a reboot. That sounds like the way my system started acting. It finally rebooted and all was well for a few days. I then discovered the DelayedReboot and am now able to reboot when I see those symptoms (and others) start showing up. By the way: updates are now available on the SyncMyRide website. I (and many others) have installed 2.11 without going to the dealership.
  12. This looks promising. The area where the VIN is located is a COMMENT BLOCK for info only. The script starts with Item1 = Restart Sync
  13. They are decent rubber mats. If they are listed on your on your sticker, it's well worth the effort to get them from the dealer.
  14. Ya. Mostl likey that's how it works with the upgrades but not sure it would apply with this reboot.cab
  15. It has happened to me several times but usually goes away after a few minutes or a system reboot. Make sure the navigation's SD card is inserted.
  16. The cab file is binary. If it contained the vin, it would have been compiled and built with the vin. ...surprised if that is the case. The lst file is text. It's the script that tells Touch to install the cab file. It is possible that the vin is in it. Drpepper, I'm curious to see the contents of the lst file.
  17. That s cool Dr! It's amazing how these dealerships stay in business. Btw ...welcome to the forum!
  18. Please be aware that this reboot does cause the screen to go black for what seems like forever. It scared me a few times but it finally showed me the "scheduled..." screen. Be patient. The 2.11 update took my car 70 minutes to complete. I think I got an slow module when they built mine 1 yr ago. No reboot has fixed my problems with Sirius. I think Sirius is a joke & will be extinct 2 yrs. Or less
  19. Recent versions of the Touch software does include a reboot if the system gets stupid. Problem is, the reboot is not soon enough. I was driving around with a broken system for a couple of days before the software did the automated reboot. Not good enough!
  20. The Sirius Patch was released after Sirius changed their channel line up. It only address the new channels and not Travel Link issues. I came across the patch on the SyncMyRide forums.
  21. It's a compiled CAB file that I can't modify. It is simple to install. The system will reboot the next time you start the car.
  22. I installed it while driving but nothing happens until you turn off the car and wait 30 seconds. (This DelayedReboot.cab was included in the Sirius patch.) The next time Ford releases an update, I'll check to see if there is a ImmediateReboot.cab that we can use. The 2.11 Sync update rebooted several times w/o shutting the car off. (does anyone have the 2.11 update still on your USB stick? If so, can I get a copy?)
  23. Right. The system retains all the settings. Similar to puling the fuse 29 or doing the "scheduled service" reboot. The guy in the video did say he lost all his settings didn't he? That's a result of pulling the power for too many circuits (like pulling the battery cable).
  24. Interesting. Pulling the power to the fuse box. Not that much different than pulling the fuse. I still have to get down on my hands and knees. This USB reboot is MUCH easier. I can do it from the driver's seat.
