  1. I hear you and can really relate! Does SyncMyRide tell you that you have an upgrade available? Grab a USB drive and download the 2.11 upgrade and install it. The self install is streamlined and it bypasses the moron at your dealership that screwed your system up before. If you aren't willing to keep your software updated then you really can't complain. It's been mentioned on these forums that a major update is coming in a few months. You will receive a USB drive in the mail. Get used to software updates. Let's hope it lives up to the Ads we've been seeing for the past year and a half.
  2. Go to the settings for the bluetooth device in MFT. there should be a setting to turn on text messaging. MFT tells me that my iPhone is not compatible when I try it.
  3. Do you know what version of Touch you have? (This can be found on your SyncMyRide.com site) It sounds like your service center is doing a master reset from the Touch menu. This option does blows away your data and not much else. Make sure your system is updated to v2.11 (You can upgrade this yourself if you have a PC and usb stick) I have a USB stick that I keep in my car that has a reboot program on it (see this thread) When my system starts going 'stupid', I force it to reboot. This clear's it's head without losing your data.
  4. A knowledgeable service center does help to take the edge off of the nightmare called My Ford Touch. If they know what they are doing, they won't need your car for 3 days but only 3 hours. I was comfortable with my service center for the first 9 months of ownership. The service writer I was using left the dealership so now I have to go to others. The last time I tried to get the upgrade from 2.7 to 2.11, the service writer kept the car all day only to tell me I had the latest version...3.xxx or something. Just as well. The next day, Ford gave us owners the ability to upgrade our own systems.
  5. I sure like the glass mf towel I purchased. The little "lizard skin" texture works pretty good.
  6. is the song set to replay? Could it be playing in an infinite loop until you come back to car? Is the cable a "real" iPod cable? I've never nailed it down on my Edge but I suspect that the audio devices don't always shut down right away. My old Gen 5 iPod usually stays put but not always
  7. The Gen 2 MFT has had this feature...support for MAP protocol. The news here was that they were updating the Gen 1 Sync to also support MAP. Focus owners will be able to hear text messages read aloud if they have a phone that supports it. Here is a good article...note the version numbers they are talking about.
  8. My friend's PT Cruiser heats the seat or the seat & back. The Edge seems to do the HOT/MED option like you mentioned.
  9. I had the service done on my tranny yesterday. It does seem to work much better. More smoooooth! Time will tell. I hope it "learns" to keep these settings. One thing I noticed is that some of MFT settings went back to default. The colored zones were turned off on the backup camera. Radio was set to AM. I wonder if they disconnected the battery during service.
  10. i've been there several times. This (debacle with MFT) is a good argument for lease. It's been a year with this POS called MFT.THe tranny is a joke also. My daughter could shift better when she was learning to drive. Motor Week recentently gave the Explorer a big NO cuz the "overbearing tech"
  11. good choice. The white is great. I have a tuxedo Black and it is WAY BETTER than the regular Black
  12. This brought to mind the Edge and MFT ads I watched a couple of years ago. It looked like it worked then.
  13. By any chance... does the tranny rely on My Ford Touch to manage the learning feature? It seems like it.
  14. I have noticed my transmission getting more and more rough since I purchased a yr ago. The shifts can really snap a person's neck at times. I'm taking mine in Monday to have a TSB applied to address problems with the transmission. Here is the TSB http://way2evil.com/tsb/tsb11-05-06.pdf
  15. Well, the dealership has the parts to do the TSB on my transmission and I will be taking it in on Monday. I just couldn't wait any longer. The transmission seemed to be getting worst. One big scare while trying to do a hiway pass the other day. The tranny seemed to get stuck in neutral when trying to down shift. The engine reved up but the car slowed. It finally kicked into gear. Shifts have been getting more noticeable also.
  16. This will be so, cool! Was there any mention of time frame? I can use another flash drive
  17. I took my car into the dealership a year ago and they hooked it up and couldn't find the option to enable DRLs. I sure would like to have them enabled.
  18. I hear ya. I think the best thing you can do is to avoid automated car washes if at all possible. Wash you car by hand. Just be sure to use a soap made for cars (not your frying pans).
  19. One other thing that may be getting in the way of pairing is My Ford Touch. What version are you on? Some of the older versions I had would stop pairing and the only thing that would help would be a reboot or Fuse 29 pull.
  20. here are the black overlays I got from webxtreme (i got the special that included a overlay for the steering wheel.) They were very easy to apply. I like them. EDIT: I like them but I'll tear them off and expose the Ford logo if the promised update to My Ford Touch works.
  21. Do you android owners get pictures of contacts in the Touch system?
  22. The first thing that came to mind here... if you had 2.11 previously installed, SyncMyRide would not had offered you the download. Sounds like your service center did a half ass job. So. now you get SMS read to you by the Sync system? You weren't able to do that before?? If an update to the software has enabled this, then it's not what I had assumed before. I thought this feature was up to the phone but now it sounds like Touch plays a bigger part than I thought. Did your TPMS ever clear up?
  23. I'm sorry. My post was cryptic. The best thing that ever came to My Ford Touch is the fact that we can now install upgrades ourselves. If you are on a version under 2.11, you can go to your account page on www.SyncMyRide.com and download version 2.11 onto your USB drive.
  24. It is a shame that we have resorted to these drastic measures on our high price new cars. I hope all car manufacturers can take away some big leanings on this cluster.
  25. I leave my SD card in all the time. If it's out, MyFordTouch complains too much.
