Good article. I'm glad to see some in the press are catching on to the terrific job Ford is now doing, particularly with the Edge.

The rags should just shut up now and print a retraction because the brakes in my Edge are far and away superior to the 05 Escape I had before. My Edge stops much faster and smoother than the much lighter Escape which also had 4 wheel discs. Of course I know that the comparison is apples and oranges, but my point is that the Edge's brakes don't need fixin' cause they ain't broke! :shades:

I've already looked down and found I was doing 80 more than once, so I will have to pay special attention. But what a ride!!!!

Nope, the "factory" nav is being installed. The dealer can get and install the factory unit. My Edge was one that the dealer had ordered and had everything I wanted except nav and sat radio, so they ordered the nav/sat module from Ford to install.

I finally got my Black SEL Plus yesterday and so far it is fantastic! :happy feet: I got the charcoal leather, bamr, reverse sensing, and 18" painted wheels. Monday I'll have the Nav and Sirius installed. Even without them, the Edge is as awesome as I expected. The base stereo, that I have to live with until Monday, blows away the one from my Escape! Pics are in the gallery, now I have to go for a drive! :shades:

Every dealer is different on the install charge. In fact, my dealer will install a Motorola system instead of Mobile Ease if the customer prefers. I asked him about it, since I was also interested, but decided to hold off until the SYNC retrofit question is answered.

Don't give up hope yet! There is a rumor that SYNC will be able to be retrofitted into a 07 Edge. My dealer believes that it is a dealer installed option and so should be compatible with 07. There is no hard evidence yet, but he is trying to get more info from Ford for us. I'm picking up my 07 Edge today and I'll pass on anything I learn.

Edgy, you are spot on! When you get right down to it unless you're talking about a Camry or Accord, CR doesn't like any vehicles, they always find something wrong whether nitpicky or not. I haven't used them as an auto buying resource for many years because of that attitude.

They do look nice on your Fusion and they look great on my Edge! I got the painted ones as I don't really like the look of chrome wheels in general. Lucky for me! Sorry about all your trouble, G. Hopefully the sheer pleasure of driving the vehicle will make up for some of your pain!

First, congrats on your new Edge! I get mine tomorrow, so only one more day of living vicariously through others! :happy feet: I assume you are referring to the area under the cargo floor around the spare tire? I looked at the spiffy styrofoam inserts around the spare on my test drive and was less than impressed. Did you order the cargo management system? If you did then you should not have taken delivery until they agreed to install it free of charge. On the other hand, if the part is $300 at the dealer versus $65 from the factory then we are both screwed my friend. I didn't order it, thinking I would add it later if I found I needed it, but in light of the cost you mention, I would have to REALLY need it to spend that kind of cash!

Black Clearcoat because the Chrome grille looks sweet against it and the Vista roof blends in well. I was originally looking at the pewter, but the black toned Vista roof looked sort of funny with it to me. :shades:

Although I'm still waiting for my Edge, I can certainly agree with #1 and #11 just from the test drive. The cup holders are an issue when your passenger wants a large drink as well. I have just such an arrangement in my 05 Escape and I'm frequently removing the rubber insert so that a second large drink will fit. I will say however that side by side cup holders are even better and Ford uses them in other vehicles. I use the cargo cover all the time in my Escape to cover up my stuff and I'm going to miss it in the Edge. It's a minor thing when you consider what a fine vehicle the Edge is, but Ford makes odd design decisions like that all the time and it's annoying! For example, they spent an untold amount of money to redesign the 08 Escape inside and out and then left out an adjustable lumbar support for the driver! We won't even talk about replacing rear discs with drums! Sorry I veered off topic for a minute. As for the rest of your suggestions, I'll have to reserve comment until I have a chance to drive my Edge for awhile.

Will do. He's supposed to call me tomorrow to tell me whether he was able to get the Edge we found in our search. Hopefully, he'll have some info on the Sync question for all of us as well.

I was at my local Ford dealer today driving a couple of 07 Edges and I asked the business manager for the dealership, about whether the Sync system could be retrofit into an 07. He said he wasn't positive, but thinks that Sync will be dealer installed not factory, in which case it will probably be possible to put it in an 07. However, he said he will try to find out for sure for me. I know, someone will say that he just wants to sell the 07s, but I had already decided to buy an 07 and so he had no incentive to lie. In fact we were in the process of searching for an 07 Black SEL+ w/nav, bamr and 18" painted wheels (I hate chrome wheels!) when I asked the question. Also, he's a personal friend. He's the first to admit he may be wrong, but he will get the answer for us if Ford is making the info available dealers yet. :yup:
