Our Edge is technically my wifes car, but thats because the car seat stays in it. I wish I could drive it every day. She thinks my little Nissan commuter car is a 16 year old girls car but it was cheap and gets great mileage. It goes either way. So long as your not in a convertable VW bug you are fine! :shades:

Thanks for the info bbf. The car is definitely not a lemon but after so many problems caused by the dealrship itself, we were thinking more of a fresh start. We are in LA and the wife makes road trips to the in-laws in Vegas with just herself and the baby. She is litterally terrified to take the car that far (or any shorter trips) after having it just completely die in traffic. We are hoping the dealer will work with us. They have already made a one months payment for all their previous problems.

Our 2007 Edge was in for a heater problem, which turned into an electrical issue as they crossed wires under the dash and coudnt figure out what was wrong for 9 days. 2 weeks after that, my wife complained about an electrical burning smell (FWD not PTO). On her way to the dealer, the car just died. Complete electrical failure in the middle of the road. After she and our baby were towed to the dealer, completely terrified and crying, the service advisor says its a loose batt cable. They had the batt out for all the previous problems, however, the mechanic said he never removed it and was nailed for lying to the service advisor and service mgr. My wife now refuses to drive that vehicle any longer because she fears more problems from the work this guy did. The service manager and advisor agree (so they say). They are supposedly working on working out something to get us out of this Edge and into a new one, but their best offer was for us to basically buy a new one for aprox $30K. We want to go above this dealership and get some info on what can be done. We arent asking for a new vehicle free and clear, but possibly a new one at a substantially reduced price. Possibly keeping our remaining loan balance and term for the next 3 years or so? Is this asking too much???

We had our heater core replaced. Same problem. 1st they thought it was an actuator motor, but then they ended up having to do the heater core. 2 day repair. According to the guy I see at the dealer, Ford knows about the problem.. If the mechanic doesnt accidently switch the C252 and C222 plugs under the dash, it should go well. If not , 6 more days of guess work!

Sorry to vent, but now its getting rediculous. I think I keep posting here as an area to let off steam. So the "Smart Junction Box" was supposed to be in today and we should have been on the road. NOPE!! Not that either. Dealer tells me today that they keep getting a "Low Battery Voltage" from the system and they can't re-flash the computer. They have replaced battery and everything related. The service Mgr. admits that their guy fried something and now has to remove the whole dash again and re-trace all steps of the heater core replacement. Now we won't have it til atleast next Tuesday as a Ford Tech guy is also coming in Monday. I have to return the Focus they gave us a loaner and got upgraded to an Explorer (all on their tab). How much longer until we have a legit case on a lemon? Service Mgr slipped and mentioned something about 30 days in the shop. I also know 3 times for the same prob. The service Mgr has been great and has updated me every day, but I would love to have a chat with the mechanic!

Service manager called today and said that he thinks their technician somehow fried the "Smart Junction Box"( i think thats what its called). It should be in tomorrow and we should be on the road. I asked if the same guy who did it was his "number 1 guy" who does all he big jobs? Apparently so.......

We are now without our Edge now for the second time for one side of the heat quiting. They replaced some actuator in the system which did not fix the problem. Upon the dealer talking with Ford, they say the whole heater core has to be replaced. Apparently this is a somewhat known problem. Next we had to bring in our 2nd key so it could be re-flashed because apparently they have to remove the PCM (along with just about everything forward of the front seats). Now we are dead in the water because they cant get their computer to link up to the vehicles and have been on the Ford "hotline" 4 times now. My questions are: Does any of this make sense to anyone? How did all of this come from a heater core? Is this a legit problem or did the mechanic F*#@% something up royally? P.S. This has been the only problem we have really had and still love the car

Ours is in the shop now. The heat stopped coming out of the drivers side but worked out of the passenger side. They ordered and replaced an actuator in the heating system. It was the problem. Now we get to wait even longer for the entire heat system to be ordered including the heater core. Just Fantastic!!! Stuck now between taking the Edge or cramming into our truck with none of the amenities for our baby....

Probably the fuel pump. Depends on how high pitch.

70 mph when it drops down to 5th gear is about 2200 rpm. Usually if you are on a hill or a headwind. Basically anything that isn't just easy cruising.

I don't think anyone has done a full dual exhaust. The benefits compared to the cost would almost end that thought. The noise would be horrific!! Also are you planning on removing the cat-converters or leaving them? If you leave them, then you are killing the purpose of replacing anything in front of them. If they are removed, then it probably won't run right if at all. 02 sensors before and after the cats to make sure they are working right. Theres alot of talk on the cold air intakes, but it doesn't seem like there are any solid candidates yet. Look into the programers listed on these threads too... :stats:

That sounds like a pretty bad hiccup. I had a truck that did that but not to that extent when the a/c compressor cycled. It would idle up and even upshift on its own. If no one was behind you, you could end up going 40mph without even touching the gas. Ended up being a bad idle air motor voltage (or something like that)

Well put bbf2530! The arguing isn't even fun on this thread anymore. By the way Cliff its "kook" not cook.

Weird.. I have heard that some window tints can make them go crazy but not cell accys. My wife had it pop on this week and after checking the tires, it was a cracked valve stem and going flat. Just be sure for safety sake to atleast check the tires before assuming a malfunction. (Not you MathewGerber but everyone else).
