  1. Hi, several times you can already find that issue in this forum. Last WE i had this problem by myself. The days before my roof got slower and slower on the last inches before closing and had already planned to clean the roofrails. On saturday i suddenly had the same problem as many edge drivers in here. Drove open to work and wanted to close the vistaroof, but it stucked on the last 8" before closing. Tested around a bit with measures like fuses out and in...disconnecting battery and so on but nothing was able to help...no changes. Back at home i decided to study a bit about that problem. I realized that the roof steering seem to "think" that that 8" before closing is the close position, because all other programmed positions were displaced for 8" in back direction, too. So i began to start to remove the headliner and found the e-engines of the roof steering directly behind the second glassroof behind the headliners under the roof. Tested further around a bit and found the solution. While testing i had the idea to make a vid about that. See it here:... hope my english is quite understandable...i am from Germany, you know. comments and questions desired. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNVXBw7pT18 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-cEODxcxYg
  2. Hi, its me again. because this is the newest post about that theme i state it here. Okay...as i just mentioned my vista roof was already rattling and slowing down a bit for some weeks. Yesterday morning the situation got more difficult. I got at about 0730L in my car and it was still quite cold...only a few °C but very sunny. So i opened the roof. That was not a problem. I drove to work (10min) and when i try to close the roof leaving that car it got the same so often described issue. The roof didn't want to close completely. It stopped the exact same 8" before completely closing. Further tryouts had no success. Every time the same picture. During the day i made some tests and realized that the roof steering seem to "think" that the roof is closed at that position, because all programmed open/stop/close-positions were displaced about the same 8" in back direction. Further tests like removing the fuse or disconnect battery shew also no success. After driving home i saw that there are already some other threads about that issue. And some people told about decalibrated roof steering, but that there are no really fix hints eccept to get that car to the dealer. I decided to study my Edge in detail about that problem and wanted to know exacty how the vista steering is mechanically and electrically working and began to remove the headliner in the interieur. While working on my edge i got the idea to make a video about that. I am cutting on that at the moment and will release it here...guess will be soon...so stay tuned. Greets Marc For better overview i made a new topic about that in maintenance http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/topic/4863-problem-fix-for-vista-roof/page__gopid__38039&
  3. Do someone know if i have to change the calipers, too, when i got the 320mm-discs. Do the AWD has a completely different brake system as the FWD? Thanks Marc
  4. Hi, thank you so much so far for the hints. guess i can drive 5000-10000km with the actual pads and the original discs are not looking so much good anymore, too. So i will change discs and pads together and will take 320mm-discs on front and rear with ceramic pads. Maybe i will purchase some brake lines, too. Have to admit that i didnt know what yo mean with brake lines first...never heared that before, but inbetween got some informations about them in www. When i will get some i will ask you how to install them. Had the idea to color the calipers, too. Guess i will make them orange or silver just like dwtc. Will do it just with the work changing brakes. Greets from Germany Marc
  5. One further thing that came on my mind: when you mean that the glass roof don't close completely with the onetuch-function... that is normal and is mentioned in the owners manual, too. For the last inches to close the roof completely you must hold the button. Greets Marc
  6. Hi, ia have some questions about Eddies brake setup... 1. am i right that Edges original brake disc diameter is 295mm? (in special FWD) 2. I would like Eddie to get some sharper brakes and think to reach that with some greater discs. Can you recommend some fitting Edges with FWD? 3. Saw some prake pads in some shops and in ebay with ceramic material. Would you recommend that? 4. Did you something do to get sharper brakes? What in detail? Thanks in advance Marc
  7. Hi, have this problem a bit, too. My window closes but gets really slow on the last cms. In my opinion the problem is the following: the e-motor of the window is a bit weak and its moving rail in rail on some kind of plastic in aluminium rails. With the time the grease is getting old and dirty and surface of the rails is getting stump and the window is blocking on its way. When you get your Edge to the dealer i guess they do anything else as putting some special grease on the plastic surface. With the time this grease is getting vanished away by the window moves, dried out by weather, sun and so on and the game starts again from beginning. Try to get some grease for plastic surfaces (f.e. for plastic gear wheels) or grease on MOS²-Base or something like that and get it on the rails every time you clean up your car. Guess that can help. 8. Heard about this...but also that it depends on the type of the LED bulbs...Had ordered some out of the link above and will make some experoence with them. After that i will review about them here. Greets Marc
  9. Will do it...thanks. Should i go to the dealer for changing the bulb sluts?...theyre quite brown, too...but they,re in function. Do you think the problem is solved when only changing to LED...my dealer is quite far from me (~200km) but i have still guarantee for 5months Found the thread about the brown backlights...didn't think about it first, that my backlightsetup is bit different than yours. - back-light (normal) and brake-light (brighter) (big red in middle) - Backup-lights are turning lights (white above; because red turninglight is forbidden in GE) and - lower sidemarkers. But bulb slots are still like original. bulb standards are normally not allowed in Germany but seem to have a waiver in vehicle documents. So i guess i may use LED bulbs, too. Will order some now. Thanks again Marc
  10. Hi, it's me from Germany again :-) I couldn't find anything about that so i am asking about all light standards of Ford Edge. I know that the Brake lights need 4157K or 4157LL. What about the other bulbs? - Front turn lights - Back turn lights - Back light - Reverse lights Thanks in advance! Can't get those standards here in Germany so i have to purchase in USA (not a big problem anyway). would you recommend the 24-, 32-, 36-LED-Lights? f.e. this one LED bulbs 4157 Another question: my left brake light is down since a few days. today i took a look at this and saw it is a Sylvania 4157K. bulb base and also the slots have clearly visible brown burning signs on the grey plastics. The right one, too but is still in function. Is that normal? Thanks and greets from Germany Marc
  11. nice looking :shades:
  12. really awesome, yes. Only missing some more heavier interieur updates in those cars. @igcitng you're welcome. Jokes away. Guess you all confidented me. My Eddies appearance will be most impressive when i will do the planned measures like complete colored body parts and some chrome accents. Either the airbrusher will be jobless or will only have to do a very small thing on tank flap or back door. Thanks for all opinions, astir interest and all jokes...was well amused, too ^_^ Greets Marc
  13. Okay okay...guess i get that. CLEAN...copied. @scootertoo21 Hey scooter...are you crazy? what are you doing with my car? use your own pics for your floffy toys...and next time dont forget the sun and rainbow above and a second bear. Dont you know how lonesome such a bear can feel all alone on a big big car hood? Shame on you! @sabtaj1 i like the original grill...so it will stay. Vinyl stripes is not so fine cause of the glass roof. Think it would only look nice if the stripes would reach from front to rear. @all because of the opinions i come to the following decision
  14. Hi, okay the opinions are quite in one direction. Thanks for all comments. :shades: Have to say i am quite surprised that so many of you (til yet) would prefer the clean hood. You have to know that i am quite unsure about that, too...well, you can see it with this poll. But i have some further ideas to take that offer anyway. How about some small subject only in the front drivers side corner of the hood? Or on the fuel tank flap? Do you have any other ideas to set some accents or would you all say: "Do nothing and let all clean!" ...? Thanks so far Marc
  15. Hi, i met an airbrusher who wants to make a tribal and some pinstribes for my Edge on an FORD Meeting in may without or with low costs for me. So i am trying to decide if i should take this offer and when yes what kind of subject (only know that i think an animal would be best)...but what. So i am searching for some decision help now. In the poll you can see some different versions of possible tribal subjects. Please choose that where you think that is the best for the Edge. Additionally it is possible to choose the hood without a tribal. When you think Eddie's hood should stay clean, than take this. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Please keep in mind that the tribal subject will not stay alone on the hood. Some pinstribes and small details will follow. What in fact is not fixed yet and depends on the final decision with the tribal subject. The pictures above can only be a rough preview. Thanks in advance and have fun with looking and choosing. Shopped picture of my Edge with some planned changes: - colored front bumper - colored rear bumper - colored lower door protection bars - chrome side mirrors (already delivered...waiting for better weather) - chrome door handles (already delivered...waiting for better weather) - thin chrome line on border of the lower air intake in the front bumper not on the picture: Eddie already has some new front and rear numbers plate holders.

  17. Thanks. But I agree with you a bit. when i finished i thought the same thing "looking like Santa Fe or Sorento a bit" and was little unsatisfied but tired.
  18. My 2007 Eddie is loved, too but i can understand that. Like the new Edge very much, too and would like to have that. But I know that the Edge will come on market in summer...heard in June, so i guess the price information will come in March or April. Greets Marc
