  1. Thanks for the tray option. Not elegant but still a possibility. These are the methods I'm considering. Both the Yakima Q tower and the Thule 400xt Aero Foot sit on the roof edges/structure and clamp to the space between the door and roof. With the bars attached and clamped, the feet and bars are under tension to stay planted on the roof. I've actually test fitted one Q tower bar + two feet from a friend's setup and it appears doable. I'm still concerned whether the BAMR roof is structurally sound to support the equipment and cargo box, 100 lbs total weight max (equipment + box + contents). Yakima Q Tower Thule 400xt Aero Foot
  2. Has anyone tried putting Yakima Q towers on a vista roof ? I want to throw a cargo box up there and I'm not sure if the vista roof structure is suffciently strong enough to support a Q tower/cargo box setup. Thanks everyone.
  3. So where does this film come from? Sold specifically to fit the Edge? thanks
  4. The SEMA show is next week in Las Vegas. Anybody going? Would love to see pics of Edge's/MKX's tricked for the show.
  5. The sky . . . the moon . . . the mountains . . . the water . . . all out here in California . . . and the BAMR brings it all in . . .

  7. And thanks for the furminator tip. I guess doggie and I will jump into the Edge and run off to the pet store.
  8. Thank you for your kind comment. I've had a couple inquiries regarding the liner. It's a simple, inexpensive solution. It's "carpet shield" temporary carpet protection. It is self-adhering film, like saran wrap and a drop cloth combined. Comes in rolls in 24" x 50' or 100'. Less than $10 at Home Depot, in the carpet department. I put it on the carpeted surfaces - goes on easy, comes off easy, and does not leave a residue. It minimizes the fur embedding in the carpet a lot and I spend a lot less time vacuuming out the fur. Simba has his periods of shedding too! I put it on whenever Simba comes along for a ride, like our trip to Tahoe the other day. Works very well to protect the carpet and catch his "drool". Since I have the cargo liner, I don't cover the whole floor - just enough to balance the overlap. One piece on each half of the floor "split" with about about 1 inch wrapped over the back, and separate pieces for the backs of the seats to maintain the indvidual seat folding. I had it on throughout the Labor Day weekend. Afterwards, removal, light vacuuming and clean up were a snap. Works great!
  9. Nicky, my german shepard fits fine in the Edge. I usually drop the right side seat so he can see me when he lies down. He's quite content and is ready jump in anytime I open the hatch. A set of travel bowls fits nicely under the back seat. He's already been on trips to Tahoe and Yosemite this summer. Alternatively, you might think of renting an Edge for a day or so for a "try out".
  10. Good . . . I believe in self-sufficiency as well as partnership. One must be respectful of everyone's sensibilities, no matter how far from or near to your own ideas. I blend the modern with the traditional everyday - life is too short. It's all about having balance, n'est-ce pas? So . . . we can balance driving the fun Edge. There won't be any disputes about direction because the Nav will take care of that. Us men get a bad rap for "not asking" so wherever the Nav says to go, I'm there! Where to? that local place that brews the freshest, most aromatic coffee? or that restaurant where they use the most fragrant cilantro and basil . . . ? Gosh, you east coasters are up early . . .
  11. Well Edgy . . . we DO share an interest in a wonderful vehicle . . . and I DO believe in opening doors for women . . . :-)
  12. Ah, please forgive me. I'm a boy. I'm in the second lowest demographic - male, single, no kids . . . . . . could it be a pick up car ? . . . i get inquisitive looks too . . . and I smile . . . :-)
  13. Hey there Mike. It's "carpet shield" temporary carpet protection. It is self-adhering film, like saran wrap and a drop cloth combined. Comes in rolls in 24" x 50' or 100'. 14. I'm a single guy too and I love driving the Edge. I've had a bunch of Explorers and Rangers in the past but this one is the most fun. Plenty of room for me and my German Shepard and friends. We're ready to zoom off to Yosemite or Tahoe any day!
  15. My SEL+ with AWD, BAMR, 18" wheels, and 1/4 full gas tank, weighed in at 4,420 at a certified weighmaster.
  16. For both economic and meticulous reasons, I prefer to hand wash. But I can also avail myself of a touchless car wash nearby. The touchless uses no brushes and they do a great job quickly, especially if I'm pressed for time. It went to the detail shop for a good clean and wax right after I got it and I expect I'll do this at least once a year.
  17. My inspiration to get an Edge was less pragmatic and more emotional desire. I liked it! I had one for a three-day rental in Vegas. The rental was a loaded SEL+, AWD, BAMR, auto air, memory seats & mirrors, leather, everyting but the Nav. I liked the decently powerful engine, the versatile and multi-configurable console box, the easy fold rear seats, and of course, the look! Pretty slick! I came back home, did my homework for a day, and traded in my 2003 Explorer for the ready-to-go Light Sage SEL+ AWD off the showroom floor. I was in and out of the dealer in two hours. Sweet! Btw, I've been back to Vegas a couple more times and I've had a Edge rental every time. The last one was Blazing Copper with BAMR and NeverLost. Like having my "own" car waiting for me when I get off the plane. Thank you Jeeves. :-)
  18. I beg to differ. The GPS antenna is the black button on top of the spoiler. GPS needs a clear view of the sky.
  19. Check out the chrome trim piece below the side glass at the top edge of the door. MKXs have this.
  20. I believe this is a result of parts bin sharing among Fords. My '03 Explorer had it. It's for recalibrating the compass when it gets out of sync and/or when you move to a different geographic part of North America. But the Edge has a built-in info center and they've incorporated the compass recalibration into it - the button is not needed nor is it described in the owner's manual. See pages 100-101 for compass recalibration instructions using the info menu. Hope this provides enlightenment.
