Tires and wheels for my not-yet-ordered Edge
rickg replied to jeffreybehr's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Wow, yet another Enkei LX-M wheel purchase. I bought those back in May, along w/Bridgestone Alenza's for the wife's MKX (see gallery). Obviously a popular choice.... -

Bumper Protector - Now with pictures

Well, I saw it on the Lincoln accessories page for $55 and was gonna order it so the bumper doesn't get scratched, and then decided to wait. I figure IF my bumper gets scratched, I'll buy the damn thing to cover it up. If it doesn't...I saved $55....LOL. -
How did you transfer to the 20's? Did you purchase new bands, and move the sensors?
-
Aha!, Exact same rims I put on the wife's MKX (from buywheelstoday.com) in May ....check my pics in gallery. Enkei LXM's are classy rims that are reasonably priced. I also put Bridgestone Alenza's (275/45/20) on it ....expensive, but well worth it while being rated for 60K miles. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?aut...=si&img=287

Bumper Protector - Now with pictures

Yeah, I too would be interested to hear some feedback. Our Touareg came with a bumper protector on it, so I was suprised to see the MKX/Edge so unprotected. Although we're careful, it's inevitable that we're gonna scratch it so we need to get something on there.... -
I noticed it too, while moving the car back a little in the garage and trying to get it positioned in a particular spot. It's got a lot more 'play' in it than my other cars, that's for sure.

Try and get an X-plan pin number.... -

Thanks ...we wanted to give the car a little more 'muscle' with the 20" rims, but didn't wanna cheapen it or make it looked 'pimped out' either. We found those rims gave the desired effect we were looking for. LOL, yeah ...the task of uploading pics was somewhat daunting for me, but after I found the directions it became a bit easier!

I had mine done the day before yesterday ...30% on the fronts (slightly lighter than the back), and it cost $70.

Thanks. I've got an '05 Expedition with 22's on it ...the warning light has been on since the day the wheels were put on; I like this newer system better. I too have heard of the pvc pipe with sealed ends & sensors sitting in the back of your vehicle, but it's too much trouble for me to give it a try. Stock rims replaced with 20" rims ....OE bands don't fit, therefore no sensors in new setup.

Yep, we have the exact same rattle on our MKX.....

Vista Roof rattle and other Edge thoughts
rickg replied to Ironjohn83's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
I have a roof rattle coming from rear vista panel ...the frame that surrounds the glass top. Drives my crazy....we'll get it in next week. -
Okay ...this is wild. My Tire Pressure Monitor light came on the other day, after about 20 miles or so. But now it's off again, and I think I know why. I have the 4 OE wheels/tires stacked in my garage, about 6 feet from the car. IIRC the TPMS works by IR, so that whenever I pull the car into the garage the vehicle picks up the signal from the sensors that are sitting in the wheels/tires that are stored there, thus telling the car that everything is fine. So each time the car is parked in the garage it is reset, and I'm good for another 20 miles or so before the TPMS warning light comes on again. Unless somebody knows another reason why this is happening, I'm guessing this theory to be correct. As long as we drive locally, I guess we'll rarely see the warning light, lol.

Our '04 Touareg had 27K miles, and both Kelly Blue Book and Edmunds had trade in value around $24K. I found that they were going over the block for right around $22k, so I had high hopes for decent value. Dealer offered us $19K on the VW ...real disappointment. Said the cars weren't going for much more due to the fact that for a little bit more $, people could buy a Lexus or Infinity. Needless to say, we didn't trade the Touareg in.... BOL.
