  1. I would like the sunroof... if it were real anyway I always see people with those fake vents and crap driving around in like their 300C and just laugh at them. absurd
  2. my commute to work is twice as much as it used to be and I fill up once a week. I don't really see this is a problem and I only average 18 MPG...
  3. when I first got the vehicle I too was a bit surprised by the amount of roll, but a few things -all cars have a roll back, some more than others (my gf's 2008 Highlander rolls back just as far as my Edge) -it won't roll if you use the brake, since the transmission isn't reliable enough way to stop the car anyway -you get used to the slight roll quickly and knowing about it is half the battle I always use the PB now, even on the tiniest of inclines. but I almost always did this anyway with every car I've owned. and as soon as you put it in park gently ease your foot off the brake it seems to help avoid the rolling "sensation" as much
  4. damn I was planning on ordering one of these... now I need to find another option sorry yours was bad, seems like a bad batch or shipping like the others said
  5. ha that's pretty cool I never noticed that before.... I did notice my GPS seems to have a 1 or 2 mph higher speed than my speedo but never did a since I've only had the GPS a couple weeks and usually too busy watching traffic to play with it. no big straightaways it's pretty good that you discovered the computer knows the real speed though smarter than the average speedo I guess the only comparison I have noticed with the analog speedo gauge is driving through those areas that have a radar gun posted on a signpost and show you your speed. mine has almost always been right on, never off by more than like 1 mph. so I just figured it was pretty darn accurate but figured I'd test it one of these days. I do know the analog speedo on my old Ranger was off by 3 mph so I always drove 3 mph faster to make up for it!
  6. I definitely agree with rolling down all the windows for a good minute before running the AC. it helps a lot. yes the vertical vents make it a bit harder to feel the air at least at 1st. but they designed them that way and not too much you can do. the large cabin and especially windshield let in a lot of UV light so make sure you get a good window shade when it's parked anywhere near sunlight. I'm planning to do a bit of a driver and passenger side tint to block out any additional rays I can. at least a UV tint if I don't find any other that appears legal. while the front window shade helps, the side windows almost always let in tons of light and heat when I'm parked. I also recommend cracking the front or rear windows a tiny bit while parked in the sun to let excess heat escape - but that's just personal preference.
  7. http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/080806/ford_blind_...irror.html?.v=3 Ford will start putting them on the 2009's ASAP - trying to beat the new Chevy crossover which will also have them. the article mentions how cheap they will be to include in the Edge for Ford, only a buck or two more than the existing mirrors cost them. I wonder if that means I can go to the dealer and order them for a reasonable amount. I'd really love to retrofit. I have a tiny square stick-on blind spot mirror (Auto Zone!), and don't particularly care for it but it was the best thing I could find that was a decent fit for a few bucks would love the integrated, flat (futuristic) look and they're a great safety feature... anyone else?
  8. saw my first Flex on the road about a week ago... nice lookin car!! much bigger than shown in pictures. it's like seeing a super-sized Mini or bigger (late model) Scion XB, but with the Ford styling and build. the one I saw was the standard launch maroon. it's kind of like when the Edge was released and every one you saw was the Blazing Copper Metallic I wouldn't swap out my Edge to buy one, but if I knew anyone who needed a people mover I'd definitely recommend the Flex!!
  9. I knew there was something unusual about the car in that ad but couldn't put my finger on it. well done!! I just ordered the 6.8" black aluminum to replace the stock 11.5" ... expecting same reception, better look

    Antenna

today I decided (on my own.. ha) to order the stubby antenna. despite my forgetfulness I managed to remember to measure the stock one before posting and it's 11", or as Lex you said on the other thread 11.5".. much longer than I realized. so I want one just over half to make sure I still get excellent reception which I guess would be in the 6" range - give or take an inch. thanks for the link to that other thread... I just stumbled across it a minute ago while using the Search box feature. those are the same guys I was planning to order from based on your earlier recommendation here, so glad to hear your experience was good! I'll let you know how it turns out when I get mine and install it (I like that it's literally a 20 second job)
  11. I think it's debatable whether the Edge is a smaller car than your Pontiac Minivan. shorter yes... maybe roofline is a bit lower, by all other measures not really. certainly if it's FWD model you own you should get slightly better mileage than that. but everyone else seems to have decent results on the highway. I'll give one anecdote I had just filled up on Saturday and drove it about 5 miles on the freeway. I was trying to get to one store near my home and accidentally got off one exit too late, thus had to double back since this place is on a one way road. sat through 2 annoyingly long red lights resulting in stop-and-go with A/C running to get there. drove straight home on surface streets after that. due to my error and street driving my trip computer (now 8 miles) immediately dropped down from 20MPG to 16. after my 11 mile drive to work today on the highway (avg 25-30 miles / hr) I was only able to get it back up to 17 MPG. point being driving highway vs. city makes the biggest difference IMO. everyone who drives one on highways primarily seems to say they get well over 20MPG even at relatively high speeds. I've yet to achieve that but anyone should be able to get 18+ MPG (around 7-8 km / L) with proper driving, tire pressure, and not running A/C constantly. seems like your average of 5.5 is indeed lower than most

    Antenna

I don't get it.. when I click on their link they're all "dummy" antennas it seems like. I'm interested in a stubby, I want to know how easy they are to install? Edit: oh, oh I think I get it. so you guys just installed the stubby on the factory base right? so I guess that is the way to go. I'll definitely have to pick out the one I like best and go that route. it beats the long factory one with the wire wrapped around it
