Wow... what kind of driving do you do? It must be all in town. I do about a 30/70 split of in town / highway and I get at worst 11.5 L/100. (yes I actually calculated it out on more than a few occassions) My total average according to the little digital info center is 11.2 L/100. And shockingly I actually think that is correct.

Ok, well I took it in for the 10,000km service and had them look at that BRAKE squeal that I was getting. Turned out to be a back plate rubbing against the rotor. They re-adjusted it and now it's smooth as can be. Also, had a problem with the daytime running lights not working. That was traced back to faulty wiring. Easy fix for that, but I was very un-amused by that. Kinda makes me wonder about the rest of the vehicle.

I have an Edge AWD, and I just did a 750 km trip up north and averaged 10.2 km/100 (dont know what that is in MPG) on that little trip. Pretty good considering I had either the A/C on or the windows wide open the whole way. I was mildly impressed

Well if they are standard up here in Canada then why don't I have mine on? Guess I'll have to ask them about that when I take it in for service this weekend. Hopefully they don't try and charge me for turning on something that should have been down BEFORE I picked it up from the dealership.

Yeah I meant BRAKE rattle. And judging by the multitude of responses so far, it appears my little spelling error has resulted in completely mystifying everyone.

Greetings fellow earthlings I was wondering if any of you have experienced what I can only describe as a Brake rattle, or almost like a metal rubbing on metal sound. It seems to me like it could be those flimsy looking "Brake shields" that sit right behind the rotors. The problem is that it isn't a consitent thing so taking it to the dealer in the hopes that it will be doing it at the time the service guy takes it out is a hit or miss proposition. Any insight ?
