  1. I have 70K miles on my mkx, I think my brakes are in good shape and was expecting pad wear to be like others have said here, around 100K or more. Is that typical for these units?
  2. What is the expected life of brake pads these days? On my GM vehicles I was under the impression I shouldn't have to replace the pads until close to 100K. Brakes on the MKX have always felt good and not made any sounds except here lately when its really cold and wet or one of the two.
  3. Ok thanks. My MKX is an 07 but only has 70000 miles on it so don't think my brakes are bad. I will check the reservoir just to double check.
  4. Mine is doing this now, was it just decided it was during cold and wet times it makes this noise? When I drive it for a while or after it warms up it does not make it.
  5. Im running into this issue now, is the above procedure the best fix?
  6. Houston area Bought wife a new car and the new car dealer tried to rip my face off on my wifes current car. Went down to car max and got a decent offer but see the same vehicle listed for quite a bit more than what they wanted to give me. Looking to make someone a good deal that would be better for me and better for you vs buying from them. Here are the details. 2007 MKX 70700 miles (10K a year) 2nd owner, bought it from a friend in 09. He wife barely drove it. White Chocolate tri coat paint ( the special pearl white paint) Elite package with panoramic vista roof ( basically dual sun room for front and second row! )with electronic shade to seal up when closed to keep heat out Siruis Radio ready DVD Navigation Rear Dual dealer installed (West point lincoln) headrest DVDS, two kids can watch different shows or the same one THX Surround Sound Audio (top of the line) Ultimate pkg with power liftgate Heated/Cooled front seats 18" wheels tires Reverse sensing system MSRP on this vehicle in 07 was 42,375. Outside of AWD, it has everything. Has Sears Diehard Gold battery that has warranty as well. It looks just like this one except has the rear DVDs, they are asking $17988. I will knock off 1500, 16588. Would make great car for anyone with young kids or even a teen driver for a very nice car without breaking the bank. PM me. http://www.carmax.com/enus/view-car/...esults:results page here is a link to my ad on another site with pictures http://2coolfishing.net/ttmbforum/showthread.php?t=799289
  7. Just upgraded to 12p via ebay for 20 bucks
  8. My wives mkx did this today. Started up and worked fine taking my son to school, she came home for a couple of hours before leaving to work and it was dead. Hoping it was just the battery???
  9. update...it was the cooling fans...$750 repair via my ford dealership as my lincoln one closed, but they offered "goodwill" cash and got it down to $275....very nice
  10. Yep thats what i am thinking now....just found this http://www.automotix.net/autorepair/lincoln-mkx-engine_repair_guide-1094.html
  11. I assume this is a related issue but today the mkx overheated....the yellow coolant was low so I filled it up with water after it sprayed everywhere...didnt see any leaks...good lord, as soon as warranty expired the wheels are coming off
  12. So if the clutch face plate needs repair or replacement, any techs out there want to give me a ballpark on price?
  13. ok talking with a coworker who said his ford truck had a similar issue and it was the clutch plate getting stuck and not engaging until enough RPMS were being pushed...he said he took that plate off and removed a wash or shim and as long as there was still some space in there it was fine....so sounds like i have a similar issue although I am no mechanic..i popped the hood today and did not even see the belts....anyone have a schematic of what i am looking for?
