I know this is an old post, but I am having similar issues with my AC. With my 2011 Edge, the AC blows cold but there is a whining noise with acceleration when the AC is on and it stops with the AC off. Would this be the clutch, pulley, or the internal components of the compressor? Are there any other fixes to try prior to replacing the compressor if it is the internal pats of the compressor. Like a AC flush, clutch relay, or a pressure release?
