I have 2 GPS units and both read within 1 mile to the speedometer. I'd call that very accurate.

The first year I had my MKX AWD I was disappointed in the mileage ( 15 city & 19.5 trips ). At 10,000 miles I had the PTU unit replaced & switched to syn oil. I now get 17 city, I have not been on a trip this year yet. The trip computer on my car always reads higher than the actual mileage.

Got it fixed, nothing more to say at this point. My MKX has 10,500 mi on it and just turned one year old. Maybe it won't leak anymore and I'll be happy. I really liked this auto until all of the problems surfaced. One more leak within 6 months I'll be able to file under the Lemon Law.

Look on the 08 and 09 fourms there are pages on mileage. No more needs to be said.

Are you having an affair with a Prius or has one done you wrong? Just kidding. My point is: if I get the same mileage with a V6 as I did with my V8 I'll get a V8 when this lease is up. I just thought the V6 would get 2-3 more miles to the gallon but it has not been true.

If I got the EPA rating of 18 & 23 I'd be real happy but all I'm getting is 15 & 20 from a V6 with a 6 speed trans! I have a right to be disappointed. My V8 AWD Mountianeer got 15 & 20 and that was the EPA rating. Looking over the other fourms there are lot of unhappy people with the mileage but it does seem the only the ones with AWD. The FWD models do seem to get a much better mieage. I have one of the ones with the bad PTU that will be replaced next week. Maybe the mileage will improve.

My PTU is leaking and will be replaced next week. First noticed smell then saw spot on floor.

It's not going to get any better. I was surprised by the low mileage also.

I had a bad tire do this on one of my cars. Tire was replaced under warranty and problem went away.

I have a 2008 MKX AWD with a leaking PTU. I can't get it to the dealer for a week. I have a couple of questions. 1. How much oil is in it? 2. It's dripping on the exhaust, any chance of fire? 3. What happens when there's no more oil in it? I clearly see this is a common problem. Thanks for any response.

That is what I get with 08 MKX 20" wheels AWD 10,000 same type driving as you. Computer is always higher than actual mileage. I have never gotten over 20 on the highway.

I now have the same problem. Notice the smell first then notice small drops of oil on garage floor. Back to dealer again.

Has anyone ever had their unit stop cooling during an all day trip? My has stopped cooling twice during day long drives. Unit was running but putting out slightly cool air. Stopped at rest stops and when I started MKX back up it worked fine for the rest of the trip. I have never had this happen around town.

Has anyone else had oil leak problems? I've read about problems with the PTU but my oil leak is from the engine. The first dealer tried twice to fix it but failed. My MKX is now at another dealer who now has a call into Ford. I only have 4,400 miles and it is 7 months old. I'll find out tomorrow when it'll be repaired. Overall I've been happy with the MKX but now I'm very disappointed. Update: still do not know were oil is coming from. Dealer has removed transmission, now looking at rear seal. I have not had a car in the shop for more than one day at a time since 1978, this will be 4 days or more. Update Dealer has determined oil coming from rear seal. :happy feet: I can only hope that it's happy motoring from now on.
