My 2015 Ford Edge SEL liftgate works well but the issue is if while unloading you accidently get your foot under the sensor, it starts closing while you are bending into the back to get items. Even if the liftgate hits your back it will not stop closing and continues pressing down. My husband had to pull himself out as the pressure kept increasing. He scraped his back getting out and the door continued to close and then locked. This was very scary and dangerous. I would think it would operate like a garage door opener that if something was in the way it would stop and go back up. I called a Ford dealership to see if there were any recalls or reports of this happening and their only reply was no, but I could bring it in for a $200 diagnostic and then would get an estimate to fix it. Also, they would have to have my car for at least 5 days before they could do the diagnostic.
