I have a 2014 6 cylinder Edge which I purchased from a new car dealership, USED, a couple of years back in 2022. I use the vehicle primarily for Door Dashing, 5 to 6 hours a day, for 5 to 6 days a week, since purchasing it. So the car is shut off and restarted many times throughout my workday.
When I brought the Edge, I initially looked up potential problems the car might have, and came across that the transmission fluid might need to be changed. Had a qualified auto repair person take care of that.
The other thing in my initial research on the 2014 Edge mentioned something about a exhaust code, or recall due to some exhaust issue; which I didn't understand. I didn't seem to have an exhaust problem so I ignored the information, thinking the previous owner may have resolved any factory or code issues.
At first everything seemed fine but after approximately 6 months after purchase, I have experienced RANDOM but not frequent brief OCCURRENCES OF EXHAUST FUMES IN THE INTERIOR. They may happen for maybe a minute, and I open the windows and vent the fumes and they are gone. The occurrences are MANY months apart and unpredictable in timing. They are also so brief, they would be gone before I could reach my mechanic.
I have tried to find the information I originally saw on the exhaust code/recall but haven't been able to sort through all the information on the Ford Edge to bring or express the issue intelligently to my qualified mechanic. They are highly qualified, but they don't specialize in any one make of vehicle.
I can think of only one thing which is or may directly related to the issue of exhaust. That is: when I purchased the 2014 Ford Edge, I was getting 20 miles per gallon gas mileage. Since that time it has slowly dropped down to about somewhere between 18.2 to 17.9 per gallon gas mileage.
Has anyone who has owned a 6 cylinder Edge experienced this problem of brief random exhaust fumes in the interior of the car, and knows how the issue should be addressed?
