Dont know if you'll see this, but novice mechanic here. Exact same issues with my 2007 Ford Edge FWD. Mechanic dropped the pan, found burnt fluid, couldn't get it to engage so they suggested replacement. How was this to do? I hope to replace the transmission without removing the engine. What else would you suggest planning for in prep of this "not fun" endeavor after getting through it yourself?
