  1. I came across TSB 14-0201 (Which is for older models, but still same customer report) and this… Forum link here: TSB 18-2057 - link Download link here: TSB 18-2057 Exhaust Odor in Vehicle 2015+ Edge 2016+ MKX_Supersedes Incorrect Procedure in 17-0035.pdf 170.29 kB · 16 downloads External article Link here: https://ford.oemdtc.com/3015/exhaust-odor-in-the-vehicle-2015-2017-ford-edge-2016-2017-lincoln-mkx but this TSB 18-2057 is talking about odor after acceleration. mine is odor after stopping. I am certain the theory of exhaust coming in from the rear hatch is not the issue. The odor is extremely strong in the engine bay/under the front of the vehicle. The odor was definitely being fanned into the car from the outside through the AC system. Even when I enabled recirculated air and came to a stop, the smell was not as strong, but it still became pronounced after sitting for only one minute. The vehicle is clearly expelling exhaust (or burning/releasing something) prior to the muffler outlet. it is so powerful that it makes it hard to stand next to the car while it is running, let alone sit in the cabin. While driving (accelerating/cruising), the air flow around the car and through the engine bay seems to keep the odor from entering the AC system. if I could drive without stopping, I wouldn’t notice it until I reached my destination. While I will take it back to dealer and have that convo, I thought I would check to see if anyone found root cause, so that I can help provide the service team with more context and they can zero in on the fix. i am more curious… if any owner was able to satisfactorily overcome this issue completely, or if everyone is just selling and moving on to another vehicle. Would love to hear from owners who persevered, and what eventually helped. The odor sensation is completely overpowering, and obliterates the driving experience. Definitely need to do something.
  2. Love the internet for posts like this, but hate that I’m not seeing a clear fix for the issue. Just picked up a 2016 Edge sport. Went for long test drive with sales person and never smelled anything. Bought it and after about 10 miles of easy driving, came to a light and while sitting, the smell creeped in hard. Burnt hair, dead mouse, sulphur… I looked around thinking I was downwind from a sewage treatment or chemical plant. Then proceeded to smell it at every subsequent stop all the way home. Got out at gas station and I could smell it outside around the car, especially standing behind the front tires. curious about this post because the Sport has the 2.7 V6 - which wasn’t offered when this thread was originated. So, perhaps transmission or perhaps something in the A/C assembly interacting with how the vehicle feeds it fresh air. will keep searching… hope you all found a fix… wondering if any of you are still Edge owners today.
