  1. Ford has a fix, the double seal. It works. Go get it done!
  2. Had the MKX checked today and all is well. No leaks and a report that there are very few comebacks after the double seal remedy is applied.
  3. I have a Lincoln MKX and have the leaking PTU problem. It has been in for repair 4 times and it seems they got it right this time. I am not very happy that it took so long for FOMOCO to find a solution but the dealer has kept me as happy as he possibly could. I am a lifelong Ford owner with but a few exceptions and will continue to be in the future. I will gladly lease another Edge/MKX and am seriously considering the new Taurus SHO for my next car. The wife drives the MKX. Every manufacturer of anything makes errors and should be judged on their efforts to make things right. Ford has done so in my estimation and will continue to enjoy my business.
  4. I had a unit with a 7251 part number installed on my MKX but it had a -A suffix. It leaked and they installed a new seal kit, which has been OK for about 3 weeks and 1000 miles. I know nothing about Sync upgrades and did not know such a thing existed.
  5. I go by the owners manual at least as long as the warranty is in effect. I drive a 2003 Sable that has 180,000 miles on it. As you can surmise they are mostly highway miles. I went with the recommended 5000 miles between changes for the first 35,000 warranteed miles then switched to 100% synthetic oil and 10,000 mile intervals. I believe the long trips and advances in engine and oil technology makes this a perfectly sane practice.
  6. I am the poster formerly known as Galaxieman (long story). The last fix on the MKX was the double seal installation and the report from the dealer noted the "heated as per procedure" so I guess some dealers are prepared for that procedure. This was completed on 3/20, no smells or leaks noted thus far and it has been moderately cold. Only about 200 miles since then and they want it back to inspect after 500 miles or so. We will see.
