thank you - got everything turning except the crankshaft wont turn Have the car in neutral - is there something Im still missing? Hopefully the bearings arent so shot that the crank wont turn???? JPJM

One question - have the engine pulled apart (in the car). Trying to line up the timing marks - Have the outside can turned to the propoer position trying to turn the rear (closest to firewall) cam to line up - having trouble - any idea? Also - is there an easy way to turn the crankshaft? JPJM

Thank you for the input it shut off at a stop sign and wouldnt start again Rolled it into a parking lot and had to get another battery. It did turnover but wouldn't start (tried once and then quit) That's when I started going for the water pump. JPJM

have 180k on the vehicle - just had the transmission rebuilt JPJM

If I go to change the oil in the vehicle and the first 5 seconds run water? Water pump failure? JPJM

looking to change the timing chain & ...... Are there any recommendations for kits and what should I have in the kit? And for my information - did they put different 3.5s in these - or are they all the same? JPJM

the battery was low - charged the battery and put back in The engine turned twice - not a full rotation - but it moved. The third time for the start it didn't move I had someone else try to start while I was listening in the engine bay - you could hear the starter kick (hit the flywheel) but the engine didn't turn anymore JPJM

purchased a Ford Edge from a Friend - 2009 Limited (3.5L) he did not know the background on the vehicle - drove it 100 miles after replacing the valve cover gaskets (has 187K on it now) pulled up to a stoplight on the way home and the car died. Tried to restart - it would crank but not start thought it was the battery - replaced and tried to start again tried to start (hear the starter hitting) but engine does not turn over like before worried that timing chain broke and bent valves will get towed to the house - what is the easiest way to determined if salvageable? (scope for bent valves - pull cover inspect timing chain) - I would run compression test but wont turn over right now JPJM

Started the 3.5 the other day - starting to have a loud noise (not normal low ticking) - sounds like a rocker/lifter noise. Sound when idling Will go away when you step on the break and put in gear. But can still hear (not as loud) Tried heavier oil - but still had the sound In your opinions - ok to drive (just annoyance) - or should I pull covers and try to replace lifters? - assume hydraulic lifters - Am I correct? JPJM

Does anyone have any insight on oil weights that you could use .... and any long term implications? the standard discussions on line are all about use what it calls for(5w-20) - BUT after 180K - clearances are a lot looser See discussion about Ecoboost using 5w-30 in winter and 5w-40 in the summer - is that an option? 1 - checked level - its where it should be on the stick 2 - using 5w-20 syn - it has about 5k since last oil&filter change 3 - Ill try this one tomorrow ........ 4 - didnt know how temperamental the engine was - has alot of miles - have no problem going to 5-30 or 5-40 syn 5 - tried using high mileage oil this last time - doesnt seem to help - will look at lucas when i change it 6 - will look at it - have you ever tried doing seaform prior to oil change? (maybe 100-300 miles prior)? Thanks for the suggestions

did you do one? how do you hold all of the shafts in place so the chain (on and off) doesnt move the out of time? thanks for the heads up on the fluids JPJM

Have a ticking sound on startup - more often when its cold outside Sometimes it goes away - sometimes not Any ideas? - 180K - thought it might be a hydraulic lifter that take a while to "pump up" JPJM

Also - how hard to do the chain driven waterpump?

bought a 2009 - the passenger front seat doesnt move what is the easiest way to troubleshoot - would think its the switch initially If so - how do you know the part number? JPJM
