  1. Thanks for the site "dwg". But I have to ask a few questions..... 1) Still no mention of a rear cargo cover. I have said a few times on posts that in the "honest" state of NY, something to cover valuables in the rear cargo area is a MUST. 2) What's with the red leather inserts on the seats? Has that caught anyone else's attention? I would love to see a pic of that when someone can find one. 3) I have one child and on our trip to FL it was great to have three positions for the LATCH in the backseat so I can put my daughter in the middle (away from doors in case of side impact crashes). But now I see that this site says that LATCH is in the rear outboard seats. Does that mean they removed LATCH from the middle in the rear?? Bummer. 4) Any pics of the White Sand? Or is it on another Ford vehicle currently? THANKS !!!!
  2. White Sand does sound nice. We haven't bought one yet, but my wife was a bit sad that there wasn't a white option for 2007. That will be our choice should we go with the 2008. Hey Jamers1.....thanks for agreeing with me. Clearly we are on the same page about the brake issue. I never saw the Motorweek specs. I said a 30' difference based on this review from Edmunds..... "Pedal feel is progressive, but during instrumented testing conducted at our test track, a 2007 Ford Edge test vehicle needed 152 feet to stop from 60 mph. Its competitors stop in the 120s. " So I would assume that Edmunds might have been stretching it a bit, huh?? I have heard rumor that they will disparage the American big three any chance they get. BTW.....the Edge I rented for my drive to FL had "Hankook" (mispelled?) tires on it. Are those made by Continental?? Or is that another brand of tires on the Edge besides Continental?? Thanks gang !!!
  3. I see an awful lot of talk about apperance/convience items (power liftgate, SYNC, HID, etc.) for 2008, yet I still read a lot here and in professional reviews about something that is still not being addressed by anyone from Ford. I am not the first to ask this, but I will ask it again....... What is Ford doing about the brakes?? I read about a tweeking of shock and strut rates, and I agree with an earlier post that that might help, but clearly Ford needs to address this with more radical changes than that. It may frustrate Ford that people like me review stats like "60-0mph stopping distance", but the 2007 Edge takes about 30' longer to stop from 60mph than most of it's competitors. It may sound like I am nitpicking, and I am sure many Edge owners have never felt a problem with the brakes, but that might be because thankfully they have never had to make an emergency stop. That 30 foot difference could be the difference between a serious accident and avoiding one altogether. I own a Mazda6 and have driven my friend's CX-7 a few times. Both of these cars stop on a dime. As the parent company, Ford should take some cues from Mazda. All of that said, I recently rented a 2007 SEL AWD and drove from NY to FL for a 2 week vacation. The car drives great on the highway, but I still don't know why Ford is addressing a complaint of a "floaty" feel on the highway, versus the much more serious and talked about brake issue. And thankfully, I didn't need to make any emergency stops either, but I did give them a real hard test when I was alone in the car, and they did feel a bit weak. The Edge also gives a hard nosedive in hard braking, as reported in other posts. Ford......hold off on the geeky and techno changes....fix those brakes!!! Shouldn't safety be Job 1 ??
  4. Everyone is talking about all of these fancy options to include on future models, like the sync, backup camera, power liftgate, etc. But I don't see anyone mentioning the simplest and most ludicrous item that is not included in the 2007 Edge (NOT EVEN AS AN OPTION !!!!). What type of cost cutting measure was implemented to not provide a rear cargo cover??? It seems ludicrous to not have this on the Edge. Not having power liftgate, or bluetooth, or other techno options is not so far-fetched. Sure, it might be nice to have them, but nothing is so obviously missing from this vehicle as the cargo cover. I could also mention cargo tie-down hooks, but it can do without those way before it can do without a cargo cover. I haven't done the research, but I would be willing to bet that there is NO other SUV/CUV out there without this standard and simple feature to hide valuables in the rear. Maybe I am paranoid because I live in NY, but I don't want people being able to look into my vehicle and seeing everything that I am carrying. Was this an "oooops, we forgot" item?? Anyone know if one will be available as an add-on from Ford, or other 3rd party vendors??? (although I highly doubt it since the rear compartment has no mounting slots) Again.......where is the cargo cover, Ford engineers???
