  1. If the RDU fluid is the same as my 2019, you may want to sit down before you see the price. Thankfully it doesn't take much. It was different than the PTU fluid for my 2019.
  2. Update, echoing what I stated above. After a whole winter of below freezing temps, we had a day of above freezing on Tuesday. High humidity, lots of water on the streets. Edge immediately started bucking at low speed, very light throttle input. Horrible. Push on the gas a bit harder, it goes away. Once fully warmed and presumably dried up under hood, it went away. Next day, dry and below freezing, drove perfectly. Definitely an unhappy sensor that is affected by dampness.
  3. Thanks, man! The egr is definitely part of the puzzle for mine. Or maybe a separate puzzle. Anyways, I do love the vehicle, I have no desire to dump it. I've kept up the maintenance of everything on it, and I'm not worried for the reliability of it. So far the driveability issue has only resurfaced on a day when the ambient temp took a big swing from freezing to warm with lots of moisture/humidity. Even then, as soon as engine heat dried things up under hood, the condition went away. So, I have to believe that it is some aspect of the engine management. Map sensor, TPS, CTS, IAT etc. Something is getting and giving bad info without setting a DTC. If it was a transmission hardware issue, it wouldn't appear and disappear as it does now. I will figure it out. I like the thing enough that if at some point it needs a transmission or TC or both, I will buy new ones and install myself.
  4. There are at least 2 different issues going on. For some, the driveability, bucking etc may wel be the transmission and/or torque converter. For others, this definitely an engine management issue. With my 2019, I tried all the transmission stuff I could, no change. I then changed an egr sensor that fixed it. Until....last week we had a drastic swing in weather from very cold to above freezing, with very high humidity. The low speed bucking and surging was almost unbearable. It's almost like theres no boost or no tps signal in a certain range. Push the throttle a bit more and it launches. Under load its fine. Part throttle, low speed is awful. Once it heated up and likely dried out the offending sensor, all was well.
  5. 100% agree. I put lots of miles on per month, my 2019 is at almost 100,000 miles now. I change at 5000 miles or less, use synthetic and use a factory filter. Plugs are very clean, combustion chambers are clean (looked with a small camera), and performance is great. Doesnt burn oil (or coolant). Leaving any oil in for 8, 10, 12 thousand miles is asking for trouble. Synthetic or not, no oil can magically deal with fuel dilution and the amount of dirt and combustion by-products that a hard working little turbo engine produces. Saving 50 bucks per change does not pay for an early failed engine.
  6. I used an extension with a wobble drive ball end. No need to try and fit between the plug and crossmember. You can also pry the RDU itself down a bit on its rubber mounts to get a better shot at it.
  7. Hey! Sorry for the delay, I forgot to update here. At the dealer, I got the same blank stare I always get when I ask a tech question. And then they tried to sell me an engine oil filter. Sigh... What I found online was SSM 47948. Google it, you will find it is a Ford service message to dealers instructing them to replace the turbo oil line screen any time turbo work is done. MacT did a video here:
  8. Great work! Nice write-up and pics.
  9. Mine was just out of warranty when the sunroof let go, and of course the response from the dealer (as usual) was "we've never seen that happen". Insurance covered it, but I'm on the hook for the deductible.
  10. My 2019 panoramic roof exploded last year while I was driving it. Recently (yesterday), the rear hatch glass shattered while it sat in my driveway. Love the Edge but damn I hate this issue.
  11. Fastest, easiest check to do is a compression test. Pressure test of cooling system would be good also.
  12. If only under acceleration, I'd look closely at your tie rod ends. One or both could be a bit worn, causing a wheel to wag back and forth like a shopping cart wheel. (Exaggerated, but you get the idea).
  13. I agree with the above recommendation and I will be getting that setup soon, but I also have an Innova 3170RS. I just used it to do the exact job you are talking about and it worked perfectly. You have to dig into the "service" menu, but transmission temp is there.
  14. Yes, it really does help. I think that's how the dealership fooled me when I bought my used 2019. I did reset mine a couple times like you said and it works every time, but it eventually comes back. Changing the EGR sensor on mine is what has made the biggest difference. But, it doesnt work for all since I believe there are numerous issues that cause a similar condition. No more surging and bucking, but it definitely is not a very refined transmission, even if everything is working properly. I drive my wife's RAV 4 8 speed and it is absolutely seamless. Smooth and predictable every shift.
