We have had excellent results with Cooper tires. The first set we got was due to convenience as they are available at the tire shop 3 blocks from my office. We have been going back to them since based on wear, price, and performance. We have put them on as OEM replacements on a number of vehicles over the years and have been very happy with all of them. I would at least check them out. We will go with Cooper when the tires on our Edge wear out. Good luck!

Recommended Mods for Leased Edge?
Hardhawk replied to dtappeiner's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Leasing can be a great deal. The Edge lease interest rates are really low if you have excellent credit. Plus, with the big hit the car companies are taking on the lease residuals not being what they expected, you may well be able to dicker on the residual buy out at the end of the lease. I did that on a 1998 Dodge PU that had a bank lease (BOA) that was at a crazy low interest rate and a crazy high residual. I worked them down thousands on the buy out residual and ended up leasing then buying for less total money that an outright purchase new that was financed would have been. It was a great deal for me. A lease CAN be a horrible deal, but if you do your homework and negotiate, it can work out well. That is why Chrylser got out of leasing recently and GM won't lease in Canada any more. With the economic problems and shift in buyer preferences, the days of the good lease deals on trucks, SUV's and CUV's may dry up after this summer. -
Only complaint so far is the lack of power and visibility. Don't complain about the lack of power when you were wanting a Trailblazer SS! Everything is going to seem underpowered after driving that beast! The SS is a heck of an SUV, but you pay dearly at the pump.

That is a very nice looking installation. Great job!

I notified the dealer about it today, so we will see what they come up with. I agree with Lex in that I have had some horrible bird poop, some after they ate purple berries that looked just horrible come right off the paint on metal. I think there is something different about the paint on the bumper. My dealer knows that I am anal about my cars' appearance so they will try to help out all they can. I have been buying cars from them for over 20 years as have my parents and brother's family. They are a great dealership to work with so hopefully all of us working together can figure something out to fix it. It just drive me crazy every time I see it.

Was washing the wife's Creme Brulee Edge last night when I noticed that all the bug splatter on the front end came off except for one. The bug had been there 2-3 days and while I could remove the bug remains, there was still a stain on the plastic bumper cover where the bug had been. The bug itself was gone and the surface was smooth, but the orange colored stain remained. Nothing I tried would remove it. The car had been waxed only a few weeks ago and the bug was not on the bumper long. It bugs the heck out of me. (Pun intended.) Seriously, is there any way to get this off? The bumper should not stain like that after a couple of days with the bug on it. Any ideas and comments appreciated. I have never had this issue on a car before, but have never had a car this light colored either. This is the only complaint we have had in over 7 months of ownership as we love the car. To me, however, the bumper stain looks like crap and I don't want to have to stare at it for the life of the vehicle. I pride myself on the appearance of my family's vehicles so it is a big deal to me. Seems like the plastic bumper material should be more durable than that.

The MKX will get the EB before the Edge will. Got to have greater distinction between Ford & Lincoln. Of course, that assumes there will still be a Ford as we know it in 2010. Today's news about delaying the intro of the 2009 F150 was not reassuring news. I assume that the delay is to give the dealers more time to unload the 2008 models that are not selling. Given the fact that the 2009 will have better fuel economy with the 6 speed transmission and other improvements, I would think Ford would be rushing it to market as soon as possible, not delaying it by months. Dodge will have its all new 2009's on the streets by the end of July. Dodge has a large number of unsold pickups just like Ford, but they are proceeding full speed ahead with their new intro. The new Dodge is suposed to get better mileage as well as a host of other improvements, just like Ford. Dodge dealers are already advertising $15,000 off MSRP in some areas on the 2008 full size pickups. My guess is that Ford won't be far behind as the summer progresses. Still love the 08 Edge Limited. 7 months with zero issues to report.

Trailer package (electrical question)

If you do not have the trailer hitch and wiring harness with plug you don't have the trailering package. -
Enclave, Outlook, Acadia & Traverse in trouble?
Hardhawk replied to robertlane's topic in Competing Crossovers & Vehicles
We love our Edge Limited. However, my mother-in-law just bought an Enclave that I found for her and I must admit that it is a beautiful vehicle. If we needed a 3 row CUV that did not need to tow, the Enclave would be what we would buy. On a recent trip to Wyoming from Kansas, the FWD Enclave averaged between 24 and 25 MPG at speeds in excess of 70 MPH. I agree that with gas at $4.00 a gallon there are many who don't need such a large vehicle, but there are those who will always need a larger vehicle and the GM quads fit the bill. We have a 5000# boat/trailer so will keep our GMC Envoy to tow that as long as it runs. The mid size SUV's are all going to get eliminated as we know them so I fear that when the Envoy dies I will be forced to go to a full size SUV or pickup to be able to find something that can tow the boat. I have noticed that the GM dealers are starting to have the new CUV's remain on the lot longer than they did at first, when they were flying out as fast as they arrived, so the bloom is off the rose thanks to the new gas prices. -
My wife has the same color combo on her 2008 Limited we got last November. We love it. We have a Garmin Nav unit too and it was a heck of a lot less than what Ford wanted for the built in version and we can use it in the other cars. The only thing we have added has been a set of weathertech floor liners and cargo liner.

I remember as a kid there was always a gas war between two towns that were 15 miles apart but both had refineries, Augusta, KS and ElDorado, KS. We had a 1967 Imperial with a 25 gallon tank. I can remember dad being near empty and filling it up with Ethyl, giving the guy a $5 bill, and getting change! Those were the days!!!! That car had been built for the governor of Missouri, who lost the 1966 election, and the Kansas City dealer then tried to sell it to the governor of KS, who rode in it in his inaugural parade in January of 1967. He bought a Lincoln and our local dealer happened to be at the KC dealer, saw the car, bought it and drove it home to dad's law office. Dad bought it on sight. That dealer had a knack of knowing exactly what car almost all of his cutomers would buy and when they would buy it. I worked as the detail kid and later as a car delvery person for that dealer when I was in high school. He sold a lot of cars for a small town rural KS dealer. That '67 Imperial LeBaron was all black and had a high performance spec 440 six pack in it. It would fly when you hit the gas. Virtually every surface in the interior was black leather. Milburn Drysdale had one that looked just like it in the Beverly Hillbillys. That was the first true luxury car we ever had.

My wife's 2008 Edge Limited has the same issue with the driver's door. She does not even notice it. I have not complained becasue the fix, if any, is probably worse than the problem. The car is as tight as a vault and I don't want to screw with that by playing around with the door alignment. It is a lease so in 2.5 years it goes back just like it came. Still love the vehicle in every way so this one little glitch isn't worth the worry to us. No issues of any kind. Only trip to the dealer was the first oil change (freebie).

We drove an MKX with 20" wheels and decided to stick with the 18" wheels on our Edge Limited order. The ride was less harsh than the MKX and the handling was about the same. If you plan on keeping the car long enough that you will have to replace the tires, you might want to consider the cost of tires in the decision making process. Initially, the cost of replacement 18" tires were more than the 20", as the 18" was a unique size. As aftermarket tires for the 18" size come on line, the cost will lower. At some point I would think that the 18" tires will be cheaper than the 20" tires, but that was not the case the last time I compared prices. Of course, the inital cost savings of the 18" vs the 20" is significant.
