  1. I painted mine on my 2011 Edge Limited.... pics are on here http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/topic/6680-2011-sellmtd-painted-frontback-lipsside-rocker-panels/... just as an option. IMO it looks better than trying to adapt an aftermarket chrome cladding. (plus you've already got chrome belt moldings and rims - too much chrome looks tacky)
  2. I've got my glass chip repair certification. You can inject the polymir resin to repair any type of windshield UNLESS the glass has a heated grid installed. There is the possibility of the resin catching on fire. At our shop we don't even charge for the repair if we can do it. (We're in Canada) Hope this helps.
  3. There's pictures in this thread http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/topic/6680-2011-sellmtd-painted-frontback-lipsside-rocker-panels/
  4. Does anyone have an update on how to bypass the SYNC nav/gps features on an '11 Edge yet?
  5. I thought about it... but I think it would be too much white. I would think that it would compete to much with the glass - especially once I have the front windows tinted to match the back.
  6. I did it in-house. I work for a large chain body shop. We washed all the panels with dish soap then plastic prepped them with a product from PPG. They were sprayed lightly with an aerosol adhesion promotor and primed using high-build primer to fill the texture on the claddings. I didn't want them %100 smooth as they would be more prone to chipping and peeling. By leaving the texture (it's probably %80 hidden from the primer) it gives the paint more of a 'bite' to adhere to and it is more durable to pitting. I also two-toned the rear spoiler to blend more effectively with the panoramic roof. My dad's ordered an '11 Edge for himself (He is the Fleet Manager of one of the larger Ford dealerships here) and has insisted that I do the same to his too!
  7. Here's my grille, color matched to White Platinum Tri-Coat (I also color matched all the lower claddings)
  8. here's the final result... The lower rocker claddings are still missing... I had to order new clips as there was no way to remove them without them breaking...
  9. on a Limited that's the only way it comes. I've looked into replacing the parts with the ones from the Sport - as they are black instead - they're about $150.00 ea. (there's only 2) I'm also thinking about painting them, but haven't decided which route to take yet...
  10. I'm in the process of painting the lower cladding right now I'll post the full procedures and pics. when it's all done.
  11. My '11 Edge Limited is at the shop right now - having the lower claddings and the grille color matched *White Platinum* I'll post pictures when finished
  12. Would it be possible to have a photoshop done in Platinum White (or just plain white) to get an idea as to how it will look? I'm tossed between body-color or black to mimic a Sport... Thanks
  13. Kudos - now I'm thinking about it too. On the '11 Edge Ltd. I really dislike the dark faux woodgrain trim on the dash panel... I was thinking of painting it body color... but now I'll be looking into this instead! Thanks for the idea.
  14. I will follow up with my paint rep. to confirm the adhesion promoter and primer/surfacer that is recomended for these plastics. On mine I will be sanding the texture completely smooth as well.
  15. I've always been a subscriber to the theory of 'cheap body work isn't good - and good body work isn't cheap'
  16. I run a body shop - thus painting the lower cladding is a far easier and more economical route for me versus the 3D carbon body kit. We've had a lot of success color matching lower claddings on other vehicles - it just requires the right procedures and products to be used.
  17. If your garage door came down on the truck (and the truck wasn't moving at the time) it would be an insurable loss and would not affect your standing with your insurance company. It might be worth a try to at least give them a phone call - parts aren't cheap.
  18. The 'Sport' kit lists out for approx $8500 (employee cost) last I checked - and it would still require painting. I've ordered a new 2011 Ltd. and it should arrive next week. My plan is to smooth and paint the textured lower cladding to match as I too dislike the look on a lighter colored vehicle (I ordered Platinum White). I'll be sure and post pictures when I'm done.
  19. no-one has answered the question directly.... Does the Escape cargo cover fit?
