  1. I noticed on a new MKX the other day that the center console arm rest appears to have two sections - as though each side opens independantly... Does anyone know if this could be adapted to function in an Edge?
  2. Has anyone tried to splice the DRL's into the LED strips? I have a Canadian Edge and thus the DRL's are setup in the headlamps....
  3. I picked up a product called Iron X - it's designed to chemically neutralize iron contaminant and fall out residue. I can't remember where exactly I purchased it as i'm in Canada) but if you google it you'll find it pretty easily. I had fall-out and contamination in the lower seams of the doors from the factory - i figured it was from metal shavings and filings becoming trapped inside the doors during assembly. It seems OK now after treating it with Iron-X
  4. Try a product called 'IRON X' - I had the same issue on the inner door jambs on my 'white platinum' edge and it worked like a charm It was a result from teh door components being installed after the doors were painted and having micro-contaminants inside the door. the IRON X sprayed on, left to sit, and rinsed off fixed the issue without having to tear the car apart.
  5. In my experience, not many dealerships are equipped to handle body work too. I've found that dealerships are in business to sell cars... whereas body shops are in business to fix and paint cars. Albeit some dealerships to have preffered body shops, or even in-house shops in certain areas. It's worth looking into either way. On paper, the retail estimate to refinish all of the lower cladding and lower door moldings, the grille, and two-tone the upper spoiler is around $2k -> thats based on our shop rate as is governed by our major insurance provider here in Canada.
  6. It's on this page, approx half way down.... http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/topic/6680-2011-sellmtd-painted-frontback-lipsside-rocker-panels/
  7. You can paint the textured pieces. I painted all the cladding on my '11 Edge. You just need to have it prepped properly otherwise the paint won't stick. It will have a slight textured look to it however - unless it is sanded completely smooth as noted above. I've got pics on here somewhere of how it turned out - it's a Platinum White 2011 Edge Ltd.
  8. I wish I could get the added features available on my Sync. Up here in Canada Ford has disabled the additional features of SYNC - traffic, weather, etc... I feel ripped off.
  9. I really wanted a Sport - but based on a recomendation from a Ford employee I went with a Limited (My Dad works for Ford) and couldn't be happier. I went one step further and had all of the lower claddings painted body-color to really set the tone of the Limited and make it appear more like the Sport package. I couldn't justify the added cost simply for painted lower claddings, and for the 22's - Plus - given the softer compound, they're more money to replace when they wear, and given our climate (I live in the Pacific Northwest) not all that friendly to drive year-round. Plus the chrome-clad wheels are easier to keep clean versus the aluminum wheels on the Sport. just my $.02 - Thanks
  10. I painted the chrome grille on my 2011 Ltd. If its prepped right, and painted using the right process and adhesion promoters there shouldn't be any issues. I've got 6000K on mine now, and haven't had so much as a single rock chip.
  11. I have the same problem on the rear doors of my '11 Limited. I showed it to the local dealership and presented them with an estimate from a shop to repair and rectify the issue. Ford will be covering all the cost for me. But I think I'm going to look into the weatherstrip solution similar too YOGREGB. - YOGREGB - do you have a source for the weatherstrips you installed? (also a better picture as to how you've attached the weatherstrip to the door / rocker ?)
  12. I've found the two tie-down hooks on the rear trim panel need to be laying completely flat. I've had a few instances where I've caught them when removing stuff from the hatch area and flipped them outward and they've interfered with the closing of the hatch and it's re-opened phantomly by itself. Thankfully I watch to ensure the hatch always closes %100 before walking away.
  13. I bought a set of in-channel visors, but I couldn't get them to work. The one-touch window would keep sensing the extra thickness of the visor and go back down. Is there a trick to installing them - or a specific brand that out preforms another?
  14. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/topic/6680-2011-sellmtd-painted-frontback-lipsside-rocker-panels/ There's a pic here on the first page, about half way down of my White Pearl Edge with a painted grille.
  15. I did mine too - White Platinum - I also painted all of the lower cladding. There's pics floating around in one of the sub-forums.... I've had nothing but positive comments on it - I even had the Ford dealer ask if I'd do one for them for the showroom!
