  1. Yeah.....I figured....argh....so what is the best way to do this if you don't have the evacuation tools? Suck it up and take it to a shop? That area got fairly knackered when the shop CarMax had to warranty work....that CarMax wouldn't pay for to let them do....didn't put the valve cover back on correctly. I had to have it towed back to them for them to fix it but I figure and see evidence of a fair amount of contamination there which is why I was going to replace the belt and the pulleys but then was reminded that the alternator is definitely on its way out. "My car sounds like I have a mild cam installed in it and the lights pulse" ie, regulator is failing. So while I had it all apart, I figured, why not, lets go ahead and tackle the alternator. Where in TN are you, wanna come help a dude replace an alternator? LOL
  2. Mine is like yours 1004Ron. 2017 Sport 2.7 AWD. Yeah. The documents do talk about removing the AC Compressor. Just confirmed with the docs that I have and the ones Haz uploaded. Only mine is an older form of the same doc showing 2015 2.7 and the one that Haz shows the 2016....However, if it has been done without pulling the compressor out of the car, I would love to do it but I feel like that is a no go. So the rub. Got the car from CarMax about 3 years ago. Sticker showed technology package. Somewhere along the line....and I cannot remember how, I was able to figure out and come across the original sticker that was supposed to be on the car from the first dealership. That window sticker says, technology package. However, its only heated seats not cooled seats. When I use the VIN decoders it brings up the 175 Amp which is not rated for the Technology package. Rock Auto says Technology Package=210 Amps. When I check Fordpartsgiant using the VIN I get F2GZ-10346-B. Someone on Reddit said that it should be a F2GZ-10346-A to be the 210 Amp Alternator. 2015 manual says 10300. FPG says 10346 The attached document is from my 2015 doc that I purchased...ugh....wish I could find the absolute latest doc...but anyway... I can DM someone the VIN to decode. I may be freaking completely upside down here but every thing just looks odd. Plus....digging in the engine bay by the old alternator reveals the nut for the stud is missing and the bracket for one of the AC hoses is on the other side of the alternator....dangling....it was left resting...with some force on one of the inlet lines on the front of the engine....hoooray for previous owners or the last nutjob shop that I had to take it to from CarMax. I am down for putting the correct parts back in the car and doing it the right way. I just need further guidance when it comes to the missing steps regarding dumping the freon, removing the AC lines from the compressor, how to make sure they are clean before reinstalling them in the space to work with. All the things. I really don't want to cause more damage from doing this the wrong way. I appreciate you guys helping a noob that is hoping to not have to take it to a shop and spend another $500 (if I supply all the parts) or $846.43 based on 175A alternator. I have a belt 680K6 (1725mm) and one pulley 38018. The plan is to get the other pulley and if I can pull it off, the alt, and just do it my own self. Ford_Edge_2015-2017_ALT REMOVAL.pdf
  3. Reviving this because I need to replace the alternator and well belt and pulley's are going to go with that. I have seen a bunch of info about the wrong belt out there... Saw a guy with a 2.7 ecoboost Fusion saying the part stores are recommending the wrong belt and I have looked through a metric ton of pages about the belt Saw the same guy say that to loosen the tension on the belt you need to tighten the bolt on the tensioner since it is a reverse thread when the manual says different Saw that I needed to remove the AC compressor and discharge the freon... My sticker on the car that I researched said the car was purchased with the tech package and so that is the 210A alternator. However the VIN is saying it is the 175A alternator. It does have heated seats non-cooled....but it also has the 120V outlet in the back and someone else said that could be why the tech pkg option was added.... Any help would be massively appreciated. Thanks
